Description:

General Summary:

Coordinates and supports the Medical Staff's credentialing process, including supporting Trinity Health CPI with the processing of new applications, reappointment applications, requests for change of status, End of Provisional reviews and proctoring of new medical staff members. Assists in the development, planning and operational management of the credentialing/privilege delineation and reappointment program to ensure the program's integrity. Provides general administrative support to the organized Medical Staff.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):

Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) desired.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Associate Degree in business or related discipline. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Knowledge of credentialing software required with Medical Staff Office Works and paperless environment experience preferred.

Previous experience working in healthcare environment with databases and using medical terminology preferred.

Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented to effectively maintain record keeping, and systems.

Ability to work on multiple projects, working with interruptions, varying personalities, and time sensitive projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Previous experience handling and ensuring confidentiality of information.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Exerting10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to the Director of Medical Staff Services. Day-to-day work decisions are made independently based upon interaction with physician applicants, and physician chairs of Medical Staff Departments and Committees for whom support is provided. Exercises independent judgment in composing minutes, preparation of correspondence, investigation of complaints, and communicating with Medical Staff officials.
