Quality Assurance Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor serves as a key member of the Quality Assurance team, working to continuously improve all food safety and quality programs at Tribe 9. Responsible for leading by example and encouraging adherence to our guiding principles and compliance standards. As Quality Assurance Supervisor you will be responsible for assigned duties while participating in our continuous improvement projects to broaden our core Quality Assurance functions for Tribe 9 Foods. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Hours are 7:30am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Weekend work as needed will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with manufacturing management in improving and expanding our quality assurance procedures to ensure food safety is always at the forefront, reduce returns/complaints, reduce scrap, and provide follow-up activities on corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate Quality Systems. Ensure compliance with in-house and/or external specifications and standards to include HACCP and GMP. Actively contribute to the data collections, trend analysis, investigation and improvements to processes, products, and systems.
  • Work with quality and manufacturing to create and/or modify methods and procedures to ensure that appropriate processes and/or products are developed, tests are conducted, and that products, materials, and manufacturing equipment meet required standards.
  • Design, evaluate, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs and systems for product and/or process development, manufacturing, and testing to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Help to manage the day-to-day quality assurance of food products produced and shipped.
  • Assisting in third party and internal food safety and quality audits
  • Responsible for the implementation and management of the internal Quality Audit procedure and schedule.
  • Assist in customer complaint and non-conforming product investigations and corrective actions
  • Perform environmental swabs and any necessary corrective actions.
  • Assures the development and utilization of equipment calibration.
  • Assist in training and supervising QA Technicians. Ensuring QA and Lab technicians duties are being performed properly.
  • Manage shelf-life studies
  • Assist in customer requests
  • This position is also called upon to perform other duties not specifically outlined by this job posting.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to standing for prolonged periods; frequently walks, grasps, lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling products, computers, or machinery. The employee may be subject to assist and support up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a as needed basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate equipment if required. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and non-moving mechanical parts. The employee could have work conditions that are extremely cold or extremely hot. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or similar field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, food safety, with hands on cGMP experience in the food manufacturing or pharmaceutical industry. Preferably supervisory experience.
  • HACCP and PCQI certification a plus
  • Experience in maintaining GFSI certifications.
  • Experience maintaining appropriate Quality Systems. Ensure compliance with in-house and/or external specifications and standards to include HACCP and GMP.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to enforce good manufacturing practices while maintaining a respectful and constructive plant culture.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of positions, internally and externally.
  • Must be fluent in English, fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing facility that produces product with allergenic ingredients.
