Description
The HR Generalist I is the first in a series of positions that provides professional, technical, and analytical support in a variety of areas including but not limited to recruitment and selection, compensation, labor relations, training, employee relations, leave administration, benefits, and other personnel related assignments. This position also supports the day to day operations of the department, responding promptly to employee and public inquiries, and maintaining employment records. The Generalist I is distinguished from the Generalist II by the experience required as well as the scope and complexity of duties assigned.
Essential Functions:
Location: Pasco, WA
Schedule: M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field and three years of HR experience OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the candidate with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
Experience in a union environment preferred.
SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely to express ideas and recommendations effectively, both orally and in writing.
Proficient knowledge of state and federal benefits programs, including workers’ compensation, unemployment, and state and federal leave programs.
General skills in Microsoft Office suite and ability to develop proficiency in enterprise software.
Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to identify organize and prioritize several ongoing and frequently changing assignments to meet deadlines.
