Identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury, property damage or a
business disruption. Will use best practices to standardize training, compliance, hazard recognition and
incident management. Audit plant for regulatory compliance and help to address safety, health and
environmental issues. Ensure the promotion of awareness of the FSMS as i t pertaining to food safety
throughout the organization. Member of the Food Safety Team.
Essential
Functions:
Plant Safety (90%)
Create and audit safety programs and policies
Lead investigation of all accidents for root cause and create corrective action(s) to eliminate
hazards.
Responsible for investigating and recording damage reports
Interact with all employees regarding improvement of safety processes
Maintain database of Safety Hazard Observat ions (SHO’s). Trend, analyze and recommend
improvements for all areas of concern.
Coordinate all aspects of the Gemba Walk program, work with team to create corrective actions
from Gemba walks and coordinate the team meetings
Work with safety team to establish safety parameters and operating procedures for each piece
of equipment
Prepare safety communications, including One Point Safety lessons, prompt updates on safety
boards and weekly updates on employee monitor
Chair the weekly and quarterly plant safety meetings
Ensure all OSHA regulatory safety training is conducted for employees on a monthly basis
Responsible for conducting New Hire Safety Orientation and Contractor Safety Training and
compliance
Provide lift truck training, Marklift training, & walk behind lift training for personnel as required (i.e.
mechanics, machine operators, etc.). Oversee forklift inspection process and documentation.
Lead 3rd party inspections and audits (OSHA, DOL, ESIS)
Prepare Environmental, Health & Safety related permits
Responsible for stocking First Aid Supply cabinets and safety supplies
5S Implementation (10%)
Assist with the 5S Process, including training, organization, communication, auditing and
sustaining
Support ISO, AIB, GFSI and Technical Quality Management efforts

6. Education and
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Occupational Safety & Health, safety administration, or other
closely related discipline and 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing environment and/or equivalent
combination of education/experience. A thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and other safety
regulations is desired. Associated Safety Professional (ASP) and OSHA 30-hour certification required and
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) desired.
