About the Job

The primary responsibility of the Community Engagement Coordinator is to promote awareness of Lextran’s services through the execution of a comprehensive community relations plan. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work directly with individuals, civic groups, and other partners to elevate Lextran’s presence in the community. This position includes regular evening and weekend events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB 

• Represent Lextran at designated public, social and community gatherings, including neighborhood association meetings, expos and conferences, community events, and other key events.
• Promote and execute community-based trip planning and travel training services.
• Identify and assist in the development of a comprehensive community relations plan, including documentation and tracking of events and participation, and evaluation of efforts.
• Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events and other communication opportunities, reporting on activities and standards of engagement.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with community organizations.
• Manage inventory and distribution of printed materials, such as route maps, schedules, informational brochures, and information used for community outreach.
• Support all employee and passenger engagement efforts and recruiting of employees.
• Work closely with Community Relations Manager to ensure continuity of messages and communication.
• Promote Lextran service and ridership initiatives.

• Assists with identifying areas for improvement and making constructive changes.
• Understands all aspects of Lextran and keeps abreast of all changing policies and procedures, as it applies to the position.
• Social media customer service support and limited content creation in coordination with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Effective communicator with stellar written and oral presentation skills
• Ability to keep calm under pressure and easily adapt to change
• Self-managed and well organized, with an acute attention to detail
• Resourceful with creative problem-solving skills
• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (esp. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator a plus, but not required
• Base schedule will follow Monday-Friday, 8-5pm, but must be flexible for regular event attendance on evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in related field (public relations, communications, community building, etc.) is preferred.
• One to three years of experience in customer service, community relations, or related fields.
• Must possess a valid and unrestricted Kentucky Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB

• Frequently communicates with personnel, visitors, and customers.
• Frequently remains in a sitting position at a desk to perform customer service duties.
• Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands.
• Frequently drives company motor vehicle for community outreach and other events off-site.
• Occasionally exposed to outside elements when traveling for business.
• Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds when moving supplies.
• May be required to stoop, bend, or kneel.
