Overview

Transdev U.S. has an exciting opportunity for an accomplished HR leader to lead our business HR function as Director, Human Resources, supporting our Transdev Alternative Services division.

The Role: The Director, Human Resources will partner with the Transdev Alternative Solutions (TAS) Chief Operating Officer leadership team to develop and deploy effective HR and Talent solutions to this growing business. This role will work in conjunction with Transdev’s broader business HR team and corporate COE functions for solutions which have lasting positive impact on our people and business results.

 

This position is based at our TAS offices in Phoenix and will require travel throughout the US based on business need (approx. 40-50%). This team directly manages a team of HR professionals who support the business directly.

Responsibilities

Key Impact (including but not limited to):

 

  • Oversees the development, implementation and execution of Human Resources strategies, practices, policies and procedures for the division in collaboration with the corporate HR team
  • Responsible for supporting all locations with guidance and execution on talent acquisition strategies and processes as the business expands and supports and helps lead local staffing efforts.
  • Develops, improves, and executes strategies and processes to drive employee retention including onboarding, compliance, performance management, talent assessment, and other employee lifecycle processes with lean principles in mind
  • Supports diversity, equity, and inclusion and equal employment opportunity programs
  • Actively promotes positive employee engagement
  • Tracks and analyzes HR metrics at regular intervals and develops/implements appropriate action plans for improvements
  • Leads performance assessments and associated compensation & individual development activities for the region and in collaboration with operations leadership
  • Develops and/or reviews recommendations related to performance management, behavioral issues, corrective actions, policy interpretations, terminations to minimize any legal exposure or employment claims with outside agencies
  • Ensures employment actions are documented appropriately documented and consistent with policies and laws
  • Coaches and mentors assigned staff, including facilitation or mediation as necessary
  • Leads wage analysis and other front-line compensation incentives strategy (under guidance from corporate compensation COE support) This includes bonus, time of day differentials, performance management and other incentives to promote the right performance culture.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget; monitors human resource budget items
  • Takes the lead on strategic communications for TAS division – this includes understanding what the goals of the division are, what platform to disseminate information both internally and externally, and help to develop content of communications

 

Qualifications

Background/Requirements:

 

  • Strong business and financial acumen to understand, interpret and develop people actions to impact business and financial performance. Capable of adding value as an integral member of the Leadership team.
  • Communication: Superior communication skills, with the ability to convey information to various levels of the organization from reports and presentations to senior management needed to make timely decisions, to shaping messages that inspire the workforce, to distilling complex facts into clear, concise, and actionable instructions where needed. Must be able to articulate a vision while being direct and transparent about challenges.
  • Coach & Advocate: Ability to counsel and guide leaders on people and leadership topics, while being an advocate of employees from both an internal culture and external brand value proposition standpoint.
  • People Leader: Ability to build teams, motivate them to accomplish goals, and lead through influence at all levels.
  • HR Technical: Knowledge of global, federal, and local employment laws affecting employment, plus best practices in talent, leadership and learning management, and when to seek counsel from specialists.
  • Data-driven: Leverage HR metrics and ability to draw insights to enable informed decision making.
  • Energetic: Energizing and engaging style, with comfort to adjust plans and thrives by operating in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Resources, business or other related field
  • Master’s degree and HR certification desirable · Seven years of experience in Human Resources Management with evidence of career progression and managing teams  
  • Experience in an hourly and/or Union environment strongly preferred
