Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Finance Supervisor for its Boston Public Schools contract. The Finance Manager will direct the overall fiscal and functional performance of operations and maintenance to ensure achievement of the contractual performance targets.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes financial and performance data from operations and maintenance to proactively manage trends that warrant management attention, includes the monthly financial statements and supporting information.

  • Directs the Payroll Department to assure that the employee payroll is delivered timely and in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

  • Drives the internal control process for finance systems; ensures that related business processes are properly documented and support a strong control environment; directs improvements and process changes.

  • Directs the development of annual operating plan, simulation and budget/forecast for business unit finance systems.

  • Directs change management initiatives for new or major improvements to finance systems; directs the development and implementation of end-user training; understands emerging approaches to training delivery.

  • Recruits, selects, develops, manages, motivates, coaches, and mentors assigned employees; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments considering employee skills and development needs.

  • Prepares annual operating and capital budgets and related reports for presentation to senior management and the client.

  • Prepares cost forecasts for and performs cost/benefit analyses of proposed operational, maintenance, labor, and employee benefits initiatives.

  • Reviews and approves department expenditure requests over established dollar thesholds.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in accounting, finance, or related subject required.

  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification preferred.

Experience :

  • Five (5) or more years of finance experience.

  • Two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Transit related finance experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Knowledge of accounting including accounting theory and principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Ability to coach and mentor employees, assign work, develop employees, assess performance and provide performance feedback.

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and improve processes and procedures.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Access, Excel, Power Point and Word.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong presentation skills.

  • Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings

Skills and Knowledge Preferred:

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards accounting system preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass drug testing and background checks, including current and previous employment verifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.

  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
