Description
This role will play a critical role in strategic decision making and operations as the company continues to enhance its quality offerings and prepares for future growth. With guidance of the CFO, seeking a hands-on, participatory manager who will lead the accounting department in setting priorities, completing tasks efficiently and correctly, as well as meeting all deadlines.
As the Controller, you are responsible for supervising the accounting team members (1 accounting manager, 3 Staff accountants) which will include establishing and maintaining organizational structure and staffing as well as selecting, training, and mentoring of accounting staff, as needed.
Responsibilities
• Manage accounting functions on a day-to-day basis including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit card payments, deferred revenue, treasury management, and general ledger accounting
• Responsible for timely, accurate and efficient accounting close on a monthly basis
• Enhance accounting department's use of software and integrates software into accounting processes and procedures
• Implementation of new ERP system from existing accounting system
• Perform technical accounting issue research and resolution as necessary
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Manage the annual financial audit process performed by our independent CPA firm
• Develop, analyze documents and implements internal controls
• Develop, maintains, and enhances accounting and finance policies, processes, and procedures to comply with US GAAP
• Seek opportunities to revise or create new policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting group
• Ensure company has effective controls and policies over cash disbursements and accounting staff is properly trained on policy
• Intercompany accounting between legal entities (loan and lease agreements between entities)
• Responsible for local, state, and federal tax compliance and reporting (including payroll, property and sales and use tax compliance and reporting, international tax reporting)
• Manage the annual tax filing / returns completed by our independent CPA firm
• Oversee 401k Plan
• Manage preparation of regulatory filings
• Manage required bank reporting
• Establish and implement short and long-range accounting department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
• Manage projects and initiatives as assigned
Requirements
• 10 Years of accounting experience
• Ability to work independently with little guidance
• Experience managing team
• CPA a plus (not required)
• Experience with subsidiaries in Puerto Rico a plus (not required)
• ERP implementation experience
• Process Improvements
• Experience working with multiple legal entities
