SUMMARY

Provides highest level of technical support to mold shop. Provides knowledge and background on mold building techniques to other personnel in shop by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops, constructs and alters a wide variety of jigs, fixtures and gauges.

Performs assignments that range from the use of ordinary tool room operations to work involving accurate relationships and extremely close tolerances.

Plans construction procedures and methods, selecting the proper materials.

Makes allowances for shrinkage during heat treating of tools and metal flow in dies.

Identifies and corrects problems in complicated dies and tools.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Requires four-year degree and four-year apprenticeship and a minimum of five years experience acquired through a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.
