    Starting Pay: $19.00/Hour

    SUMMARY:
    Under the direction and supervision of the Security Manager, the person in this position is responsible for monitoring students and visitors in all areas of the building and grounds to help ensure a safe and secure environment. The security guard is responsible for helping to deter inappropriate student behavior, referring students with discipline violations to the Deans, helping to enforce school parking regulations, directing traffic, providing crowd control, and providing positive assistance to students and faculty when needed.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Monitors all areas of the school building and grounds: hallways, cafeteria, washrooms, locker rooms, parking lot and grass areas.
    • Deters inappropriate student behavior through high visibility in student areas and the development of positive student interactions.
    • Refers students who violate school rules to the Deans' Office.
    • Assists students with difficulties with lockers, in the cafeteria, in the hallways, etc.
    • Direct visitor, parent, staff, and student traffic. Monitors student and faculty parking.
    • Enforces parking regulations, such as issuing student parking permits and ?determining which students violate parking regulations.
    • Assists adult staff and visitors by directing them to the appropriate parking areas and determines which adults violate parking regulations.
    • Greet, check, and direct visitors to the building.
    • Provides security for school dances, sporting events, and other extracurricular activities.
    • Attends and participates in staff/security meetings as needed.
    • Provide campus safety.
    • Performs other duties which may from time to time be assigned.

    • Able to resolve and/or deescalate tense or volatile situations.
    • Able to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Possess common sense, problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with day to day instruction and supervisory situations.
    • Able to build and maintain relationships with colleagues that supports a cooperative work environment.
    • Able to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student, and other sensitive District information.
    • Able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
    • Computer knowledge for accessing information or screening visitors to the school or district activities.
    • Able to learn and operate new software security systems.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, write, type, speak, and listen. In addition, the employee may occasionally be required to bend, twist, reach and climb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, peripheral and distant vision. The ability to work in an office environment, sitting, standing, light lifting, filing, operate office machines and computer, communicate with staff and others. Occasional lifting, otherwise non-demanding office activities. Must be able to drive district vehicles. The employee will be regularly working outside all year round in all types of weather.
    The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet/moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students including taking actions that prevent or stop disruptions or fights involving students and/or adults.
