Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Development works to achieve the fundraising goals of Touro University Nevada (Touro).

The director is the only devoted, full-time fundraising professional at Touro.

This opportunity allows a mission-driven and well-rounded development professional to excel and grow their professional skills in the areas of donor stewardship, major gifts, corporate and foundation gifts and grants, and annual giving. The director serves both as a lead for donor stewardship initiatives as well as a major gifts officer with a focus on prospecting and qualifying potential donors who have the capacity to give $25,000 or more to the University.

The Director of Development supervises the Manager of Alumni/ae Relations who is responsible for increasing the alumni/ae participation rate (i.e., encouraging increased financial support of Touro from alumni/ae).

At its core, the director’s role is a consultative sales position that advances the mission, vision, and values of Touro with alumni/ae and local stakeholders in the Las Vegas Valley and beyond. The director will be responsible for meeting individual fundraising goals and will support the team’s larger fundraising targets.

1. In partnership and close collaboration with the VP for Advancement, the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services:

1.1. Design a multi-year development strategy for the University that culminates in a comprehensive fundraising campaign.

1.2. Design a near-term naming campaign for newly constructed/renovated areas.

1.3. Introduce the value of the Touro degree to university stakeholders and build a portfolio of potential donors and partners who have the capacity to give $25,000 or more to Touro. Depending upon the time of the year, the director will initiate and conduct a targeted amount of visits per month for the purpose of determining philanthropic interests, readiness to give, and giving capacity. The director will solicit gifts directly and when appropriate, involve University leaders.

2. Lead gift acceptance for incoming gifts under $100,000, including crafting gift agreements and correspondence with donors (including acknowledgement letters) and designing follow-up donor stewardship activities that include campus representatives.

3. Serve as the lead on all silent auction events including maintaining item inventory, procuring gifts-in-kind, sending appropriate acknowledgement letters, planning and executing auction events, distributing items, and determining net proceeds.

4. Lead private grants development, stewardship, and reporting, liaising with the Office of Sponsored Programs when appropriate.

5. Lead the faculty/staff giving campaign.

6. Design and maintain a donor stewardship plan including for (established) scholarship funds.

7. Collaborate with Advancement Services to host stewardship events such as check presentations, gift agreement signing ceremonies, scholarship luncheons, preceptor events, and other donor appreciation events.
