Touro University Nevada is Hiring a Director of Development Near Henderson, NV

Overview

Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, the Director of Development works to achieve the fundraising goals of Touro University Nevada (Touro).

The director is the only devoted, full-time fundraising professional at Touro.

This opportunity allows an early career, mission-driven development professional to excel and grow their professional skills in the areas of donor stewardship, major gifts, and corporate and foundation gifts and grants. The director serves as a major gifts officer with a focus on prospecting and qualifying potential donors who have the capacity to give $25,000 or more to the University.

At its core, the director’s role is a consultative sales position that advances the mission, vision, and values of Touro with alumni/ae and stakeholders in the Las Vegas Valley and beyond. The director will be responsible for meeting individual fundraising goals and will support the team’s larger fundraising targets.

Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the notorious Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • In partnership and close collaboration with the VP for Advancement, the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services:
    • Design a multi-year development strategy for the University that culminates in a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
    • Design a near-term naming campaign for newly constructed/renovated areas.
    • Introduce the value of the Touro degree to university stakeholders and build a portfolio of potential donors and partners who have the capacity to give $25,000 or more to Touro. Depending upon the time of the year, the director will initiate and conduct a targeted amount of visits per month for the purpose of determining philanthropic interests, readiness to give, and giving capacity. The director will solicit gifts directly and when appropriate, involve University leaders.
  • Lead gift acceptance for incoming gifts under $100,000, including crafting gift agreements and correspondence with donors (including acknowledgement letters) and designing follow-up donor stewardship activities that include campus representatives.
  • Serve as the lead on auction events including procuring gifts-in-kind and planning and executing auction events.
  • Lead private grants development, stewardship, and reporting, liaising with the Office of Sponsored Programs when appropriate.
  • Lead the faculty/staff giving campaign.
  • Design and maintain a donor stewardship plan including for (established) scholarship funds.
  • Collaborate with Advancement Services to host fundraising and stewardship events such as the annual gala, check presentations, gift agreement signing ceremonies, scholarship luncheons, preceptor events, and other donor appreciation events.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Experience:

Minimum of three years of experience in sales or nonprofit fundraising as a development professional.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in higher education development preferred.

Experience in a consultative sales role preferred, such as an investment advisory representative.

Weekend, evening work, and occasional overnight travel will be necessary.
