About Touchstone: Touchstone Center for Crafts is an important arts & culture institution in Fayette County, bringing students & instructors from around the country to experience immersive learning across various craft disciplines (blacksmithing, ceramics, metals/jewelry, glass, drawing/painting, & various special topics). Touchstone is the only residential craft school in PA & among only a handful across the country.

Kitchen Steward: Part Time/Seasonal: (approximately June 1 – August 31)
The Kitchen Steward at Touchstone Center for Crafts assists with preparation, setup, cleanup, and serving of meals as necessary. The Kitchen Steward is responsible for representing the highest standard of excellence in kitchen cleanliness and organization, ensuring the kitchen & dining room areas are clean, well maintained, organized, and always stocked. The Kitchen Steward reports directly to the Culinary Manager. Start and end dates are approximate.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Work with the Culinary Manger to ensure that all Touchstone culinary needs are met, assisting the Culinary Manager with food preparation, meal setup, cleanup, and service.
• Adhere to all sanitation guidelines
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Report any breakdowns in equipment, accidents, or breakages to the Culinary Manager.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Ideal candidate will have Food Handler Certification
• Able to work in a fast paced, team environment
• Positive and upbeat attitude and demeanor
• Organized and reliable
• Prioritizes and works efficiently with limited supervision
• Recognizes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently
• Clean, with good hygiene habits
• Communicates effectively
• Able to perform all duties in a hot and humid environment

Physical Demands
Employee must occasionally lift, reach, and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Touchstone’s general campus is rural, with uneven terrain.
Compensation
Compensation discussions are a part of the interviewing process, but hourly rate range is $11-$16/hour and will be adjusted based on one’s experience and skills. Housing and studio access negotiable.

The position will remain open until filled. We would like this position to start approximately June 1, 2023.
