Overview

Total Solutions, Inc. (TSI) has an immediate need for a Junior Technical Writer. This is a full-time position responsible for supporting the coordination and creation of proposal response content for requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposals (RFPs), other procurement documents and unsolicited proposals. This is an excellent opportunity for Entry Level professionals. Must be self-motivated with a desire and drive to continuously learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Write professional, compliant proposals to be submitted to Government customers.
• Work with technical Subject Matter Experts to gather technical solution data and communicate it within the context of a proposal.
• Communicate in a professional and credible manner.
• Write persuasively and articulately for internal and external audiences with proper grammar and overall professionalism
• Research topics and gathers necessary information to understand basics of a topic and then be able to communicate it to a new audience in speech or writing.
• Edit already written technical/business detail to improve and/or make more concise.
• Create basic PowerPoint slide decks of varying purposes.
• Create basic graphics/charts via standardized programs (e.g., Draw.io, Illustrator, etc.)
• Responsible for revising or writing standardized material for reports or briefs.

• Research, prepare and edit technical documents.
• Ensure documents meet editorial and customer specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, format, and style.
• Interface with writers, illustrators, word processors, and subject matter specialized in coordinating and preparing the edited draft.
• Participate in the publishing of formatted documentation in various media.
• Track project documentation through creation, approval, publication, and update lifecycle.

As a Junior Proposal Writer, you’ll work closely with the Proposal Manager, technical subject matter experts, content contributors, teammates, and business development leaders. You will participate in many stages of the proposal development lifecycle (PDLC) from solicitation analysis through content development, review and editing, to final production. You’ll work closely with contributors, especially technical solution teams, to ensure all contributed content is well-written, meets standards, and most importantly, clearly demonstrates how the proposed solution meets the client’s needs. Experience in the software or product development world is a bonus that will help you identify areas within a technical narrative that may require additional detail or seem confusing to evaluators. In between proposals, you’ll work with the Proposal Manager to ensure content assets are created or updated, maintaining a high-quality, robust library. 

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field preferred.
• 0-2 years of technical writing experience in a business or academic setting.
• Good documentation skills
• Should be a quick learner, able to work with the team.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to read and follow specific instructions for document creation.
• Capable of performing research and/or collaborating with subject matter experts to understand and synthesize concepts in order to create new content
• Must have excellent writing skills, including the ability to write persuasive and narrative content that is concise, yet thorough
• Must be able to follow style guidelines, such as voice, tense, capitalization conventions, and formatting/layout conventions
• Must be able to think strategically and work collaboratively with the proposal team to cultivate win themes and value propositions and apply them throughout proposal content
• Experience effectively conveying information to audiences of all skill levels
• Must be able to proofread and edit contributed content
• Must be able to champion practices that uphold quality standards and contribute to continuous process improvement throughout the proposal development life cycle
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills (English) with the ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders
• Experience working with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
