Sales Engineer

Summary of Position:

The Sales Engineer role is responsible for assisting the sales and leadership teams in driving sales growth by providing expert guidance and solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Actively support the Sales team during the qualification and discovery stages of sales deals. This includes participating in joint phone or email communication and prospects as needed
  • Prepare product drawings and give technical presentations to explain to customers how the products and services work
  • Work with the customers and TSS engineering department to ensure the product meets their requirements
  • Take a leadership role in conducting the "technical close" step of the sales process and address objections to ensure the decision-maker favors our solution over any alternatives
  • Assist cross-departmentally as needed during project manufacturing and delivery to resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, core values, and financial objectives
  • Communicate customer needs and market feedback to Leadership
  • Support marketing activities including technical articles as required and traveling to trade shows
  • Facilitate on-site field measures and site evaluations as necessary

  • Consistently demonstrates a “help first” attitude and enjoys helping colleagues improve their product and application knowledge and solving prospect and customer issues
  • Active listening: ability to build rapport; have a consultative conversation with prospects
  • Easily and naturally adjusts their vocabulary and communication style to match customers and prospects - architects, engineers, general contractors, sub-contractors
  • Prefers in-person exchanges and is energized by field work, walk throughs, field measures, etc. 
  • Construction Management and Industry experience desired

Required Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or minimum 5-7 years working experience in a technical environment, commercial construction and glazing experience preferred
  • Experience in 2D drawing software, AutoCAD preferred. 3D modeling experience is a plus
  • Experience and ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • General understanding of commercial door hardware and integration is a plus
  • Prior experience or knowledge with bullet resistant materials and systems a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team selling environment with ability to multitask
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel 30%
  • Intermediate level skill in using business and CRM software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and G Suite. Experience with HubSpot CRM a plus
