Position Overview As part of the Training & Development team, the Instructional Designer develops virtual instructor-led training (VILT) materials as well as engaging and innovative online learning environments (e-learning). This individual must be experienced in using Articulate, Vyond, and other e-learning authoring tools. A strong attention to detail, an eye for design, and comfort with writing both text and dialogue are important strengths. This role is ultimately responsible for incorporating adult learning principles, and current instructional design theory Responsibilities • Working collaboratively with learning (training) and development team, defines design specifications and instructional strategy for assigned projects. Acts as the owner of the deliverable’s/product’s design, development style, content execution, and instructional standards. • Contributes to the development of schedules for projects and then designs and develops training products/deliverables as assigned. • Works with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy of content. • Conducts gap analyses and job task analyses and determines learning/training objectives for learning environments according to these analyses and best practices in learning theory. • Plans evaluation procedures and conducts quality analyses with the goal of continuous improvement for all learning/training-related deliverables. • Develops frontline learning knowledge checks and training evaluations, analyzes results, makes recommendations, and works with business to determine return on investment (ROI). • Keeps pace with eLearning and virtual classroom trends to ensure learning environments are relevant and attractive to learners. Job Requirements • Proven experience in implementing instructional design best practices, including experiential learning activities, following evidence-based methodologies and principles such as Kirkpatrick’s levels of evaluation, learner-centered approach, and the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML) • Advanced knowledge in theories of motivation and techniques used to improve learner engagement • Experienced in developing and delivering differentiated instruction • Experienced in utilizing effective needs assessment, learner analysis, and subordinate skills analysis. • Proven experience in designing training/learning materials in a corporate setting • Proficient in Articulate 360, Adobe Software, Vyond, Storyline, Rise • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills; Ability to prioritize workload, handle tasks, and meet deadlines • Good communication skills, both written and verbal • Attention to detail • Self-motivated and team player Education/or experience • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Three years of experience as an Instructional Designer Physical Demands and Working Conditions The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential function to this job. Incumbent must be prepared to: • Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. • Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones etc. • Fingering and Repetitive motions, such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching, and typing during your normal working environment. • Express or exchange ideas with others using spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in sounds in the environment. Incumbent is required to have: • Close visual acuity to perform detail-oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading Incumbent will be subject to: • Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
