Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is the management of the Corporate Accounts Payable function according to TLC policy/procedures, federal/state regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the Corporate accounts payable function for TLC. This includes:
    • Conducting all job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set forth in TLC Management’s Code of Business Conduct and applicable federal/state laws and professional standards;
    • Supervising the duties and performance of Corporate Accounts Payable Specialists and filling in when one is absent;
    • Setting up A/P processes for all new facilities and establishing needed A/P procedures before delegating to the A/P specialists;
    • Hiring and training new accounts payable employees;
    • Training A/P employees at both the Corporate and facility level;
    • Working with RDOs and Administrators to resolve facility accounts payable issues;
    • Reviewing and updating the A/P manual annually;
    • Ensuring that A/P month end close is completed accurately and timely;
  • Processing accounts payable transactions for each assigned company. This includes:
    • Receiving, entering, paying and filing invoices for the assigned companies;
    • Checking GL coding for any errors;
    • Questioning any invoices that appear out of the ordinary;
    • Insuring proper approvals are given for any payables being processed;
    • Checking all statements for missed invoices;
    • Screening vendor calls concerning invoices being paid;
    • Reconciling vendor statements;
    • Assisting facilities with any questions regarding invoices sent;
    • Tracking use tax owed on invoices where there should be sales tax entered, but was omitted;
    • Filing sales and use tax returns;
    • Overseeing facilities’ year-end records filing and storage for the previous year; &
    • Assisting with all audits such as pulling/re-filing requested invoices for payroll, Medicare/Medicaid, IRS, etc.
    • Completing the TLC Billing each month
    • Gathering receipts and reconciling all TLC credit cards
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Controller.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must possess specific educational and experience requirements such as:
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; or
    • A Bachelor’s Degree with relevant experience in Accounting or Finance
    • At least 1 year of Supervisory Experience and working with GP. 
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of best accounting/accounts payable practices.
  • Must possess managerial and interpersonal skills such as:
    • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions, function independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action;
    • Personal integrity and the ability to deal tactfully with visitors, government agencies and personnel;
    • The ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel;
    • Judgment in prioritizing the performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures;
    • The ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Corporate Compliance and HIPAA;
    • Patience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and a problem solver;
    • The ability to adhere to professional code of ethics;
    • A passion for accuracy
    • Knowledge on the use of personal computers, e-mail accounts, software programs such as Word and Excel and minor office machines;
    • The ability to work Monday-Friday during normal business hours and the ability to work before or after hours as needed
