Reporting to Tiger Solar's President, the Director of Construction will oversee the daily needs of current Tiger Solar commercial and residential solar project construction, from the point of sale to utility interconnection. A successful candidate will be familiar with the solar industry and have expertise in financial and operational reporting, business process improvement, contract administration, leading and training construction crews, coordinating work across internal departments, and collaborating with peers and partners outside the organization.

This is a full-time, salaried position with the following responsibilities:

  • Promotes productivity and teamwork with open communication, timely decision making, and use of leadership skills to set high standards of performance, while providing the direction necessary to achieve performance
  • Supports an organizational culture that encourages and rewards employee involvement, innovative thinking, adaptation to change, responsible risk taking, customer service, and continuous quality improvement
  • Provides excellence and consistency in delivering on customer’s expectations of the project, and models our commitment to providing “Tiger Way” service 
  • Ensures compliance with commercial contract commitments, ongoing risk assessments (including potential counterparty risk exposures) and performance management
  • Assists Branch Managers and Lead Installers in providing coaching and guidance to their teams including consistent performance evaluations, compensation, and training and/or developmental needs
  • Works closely with Branch Managers and Human Resources to optimize staffing levels, hire and retain appropriate individuals and effectively manages the operations workforce for asset and team growth, providing hands-on support when needed
  • Works with Accounting and shared service teams to establish and report on key operational and financial metrics, including monthly P&L reporting and forecasting, customer contract compliance, and appropriate operational and performance reports
  • Manages levels of tools, supplies, and personal protective gear to avoid shortages or excessive surplus
  • Troubleshoots and manage/resolve customer concerns to successful outcomes
  • Acts as lead to all other internal departments to review achievements and examine required changes resulting from status and conditions of solar projects
  • Analyzes and summarizes construction activities to evaluate and implement continuous efficiency and quality improvements
  • Partners with Branch Managers to performs budget preparation, assists in estimate reviews, budget management and monthly status reviews
  • Serves as a key strategic partner to Tiger Solar’s President in crafting the Company's growth plan and operational procedures
  • Ensures that all team members demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Tiger Solar’s safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field is preferred
  • At least five (5) years' work experience that includes leading effective construction teams, financial management, and providing quality customer service, with solar industry experienced preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working with PV systems in a capacity that may include design, installation, operation, maintenance, or any combination thereof
  • Ability to analyze and understand data and performance metrics related to efficiency, productivity, profitability, resource deployment and general operations
  • Clear understanding and ability to enthusiastically promote safe workplace practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a manner consistent with Tiger Solar’s organizational policies, procedures, and culture
  • Ability to communicate with peers, supervisor, and all other external individuals both effectively and respectfully 
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications to include but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, and SharePoint, as well as various industry-related software platforms
  • Passionate about renewable energy and providing best-in-class customer service support
  • Able to learn new technologies, quickly becoming the expert of a rapidly evolving set of technology needs
