Thomas Pump & Machinery is Hiring a CNC Operator Near Slidell, LA

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The CNC Operator, operates computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. The CNC machinist loads parts in the machine, cycles machine and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform all assigned machine shop operations;
  2. Detect and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor;
  3. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition;
  4. Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required;
  5. Perform the following tasks: boring, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations and inspection;
  6. Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation and sand blasting tasks;
  7. Completes and maintains paperwork for parts;
  8. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards;
  9. Maintain a safe work environment;
  10. Perform other related functions as may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Diploma or GED/HiSet and;
  2. One year of factory-related experience and;
  3. Previous experience in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools;
  4. Training in foreign object damage awareness and/or quality system awareness or;
  5. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics to perform the duties of the position.
  6. CAM Software experience preferred
