Key Responsibilities:
· Bill, post payments and follow up on claims for services to private health insurers, Mass Health, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
· Obtain status of outstanding claims via telephone call or insurer website.
· Correcting and rebilling denied insurance and/or Mass Health claims by paper or online via the insurer website.
· Maintain meticulous records of all communication regarding claim payment, including email communications.
· Obtain necessary documentation from offsite locations as well as from client files stored onsite.
· Maintain confidentiality of client information pursuant to federal and state regulations and agency policies.
· Ensure client files are properly maintained, stored, secured, and when appropriate, destroyed in compliance with the agency’s document retention and destruction policy.
· Adhere to Mass Health, Department of Public Health, and all other insurers’ billing procedures.
· Work collaboratively with other Thom Billing Specialists, both at the administrative office and at offsite locations.
Requirements:
· Minimum of one year of experience in medical billing
· Competence with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Excellent file management skills including the ability to physically handle large boxes of files.
· Outstanding customer service skills.
· Willingness and ability to learn customized software specifically for Early Intervention billing.
Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with colleagues.
