Job Description
Third Coast Federal is a growing R&D tech accelerator that works with innovative industry, university and non-profit partners to increase access to government R&D funding and grow ecosystems of synergistic partnerships. We are looking for an experienced front-end developer to take a key role in the development of data driven systems that improve end-users access to information based on graph databases and machine learning algorithms implemented in collaboration with our AI R&D partners at the University of Notre Dame.
The front-end developer will build interfaces to present complex, multi-level information to users and collect user input to improve the quality of results over time. The developer will understand, document and improve the user search, data interaction, and data collection experiences, in close collaboration with our back-end developers and R&D partners. The day-to-day work will include meeting with customers, development team members and our R&D partners to create and review designs with others, and working with the back-end developers to implement those designs.
We work closely with co-located research scientists at the University of Notre Dame. Preference is for co-located or hybrid work arrangements.
Responsibilities
● Develop an interactive website with a responsive design for a wide range of devices
● Build the application using a Javascript framework (Vue preferred) that integrates with back-end APIs
● Collaborate closely with back-end developers
● Create quality mockups and prototypes
● Write functional requirement documents and guides
● Work on an Agile team to ensure each project meets the client requirements and goals
● Identify, troubleshoot, and document browser/platform compatibility issues and standards
● Work alongside clients, vendors, or R&D partners to ensure project delivery
● Continuously prototype new ideas with the expectation that these prototypes will become live code very quickly
Skills
● Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent working experience
● 4 years of professional experience on a software development team as a front-end developer
● 2 years of experience using React
● Strong UI/UX design skills
● Strong software documentation skills
● Experience developing front end applications to work with backend APIs
● Experience using Git-based version control such as GitHub or BitBucket
● Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
● Experience working with the full stack
● Knowledge of AWS tools and services
● Knowledge of data visualization tools such as D3.js
● Knowledge of UI and CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap, Tailwind
● Experience with front-end automated test frameworks (Jest preferred)
