Summary : The Ultrasound Technologist performs general, OB-GYN, and vascular exams in a variety of settings and on patients of all ages. Evaluates images to ensure they are of acceptable diagnostic quality. Adheres to ThedaCare safety and quality standards, and uses proper ergonomic techniques. Job Description: Schedule: Flexible with the candidate schedule. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Applies knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology, and critical thinking to implement appropriate imaging techniques using established protocols to acquire required images. 2. Adjusts to changing or unusual circumstances and cares for patients and families in a variety of settings to ensure their comfort and safety. 3. Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients. 4. Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record. 5. Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies or other regulatory bodies. 6. Assists providers in diagnostic and interventional procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program • Hospital experience • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) registered or registry eligible or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Ultrasound) registered or registry eligible or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) registered or registry eligible • If registry eligible, MUST be registered within six months of date of hire PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties WORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents • Occasional high noise level in work environment Occasional contact with aggressive and/or combative patients • Use of computers throughout the work day Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers Repetitive motion of shoulders, arms, wrists, and hands while scanning patients • Frequent sitting with movement through department/hospital * Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32 Scheduled FTE: 0.8 Location: ThedaCare Medical Center - Shawano - Shawano,Wisconsin Overtime Exempt: No About ThedaCare ThedaCare is a community health system consisting of seven hospitals, numerous clinics and related services.We are the third largest health care employer in Wisconsin and the largest employer in the state's second largest economic market - Northeast Wisconsin - with approximately 6,800 employees.
