The Wooten Company’s Winston-Salem, NC office is seeking a team-focused, innovative Civil Project Manager with strong technical experience to join our expanding Civil Team.

Who are you? The ideal candidate is a highly motivated civil engineer with a strong background in successfully completing water, wastewater and / or stormwater projects for both municipal and private clients. You are responsible, work well with a team and communicate well with people of varying backgrounds and experiences. You are eager to learn and grow professionally in your field.

What will you be doing? Candidates can expect to work with utility owners, such as local governments and municipalities, in the delivery of critical water and sewer services, along with other community facilities. The person in this role can make a significant community impact by supporting our clients as they carry out their mission to efficiently own, operate, and maintain public utilities on behalf of their customers / residents. Candidates can expect to be continually challenged to independently design projects that develop solutions to meet our client’s needs, using the right mix of advanced technology and historically successful measures, while working within the financial boundaries of the project stakeholders. 

Who will you be working with? The Civil Project Manager can expect cross functional collaboration across all teams and specialties, providing an opportunity to interact with The Wooten Company colleagues in both North and South Carolina. Additionally, this person will regularly work with municipal and private clients, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies. For the right person with a desire to grow professionally, this role is a good opportunity to obtain a depth and breadth of civil engineering ability and to contribute to the growing presence of Wooten, in both the North and South Carolina regions. 

Where will you be working? This position is located in our Winston-Salem, NC office affectionately known as the City of Arts and Innovation. Winston-Salem is one of the three cities of the North Carolina Piedmont Triad with Greensboro and High Point completing the trio. The city is home to a unique and thriving downtown along with the historic Old Salem. Our office is located within walking distance of Old Salem a historic Moravian Community turned historic district with charming cobblestone roads and freshly made Moravian cookies. Our office is also walking distance to downtown including a variety of restaurants and the City of Winston-Salem municipal buildings. With a thriving artist community, plenty of outdoor parks, historical architecture, and great cost of living, the triad region is not only a great place to work, but a great place to call home.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in a consulting engineering environment 
• NC Licensed Professional Engineer (or if licensed outside NC, ability to obtain NC license within one year)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (O365) applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of AutoCAD – Civil 3D strongly preferred
• Experience with Design of Water Distribution Systems and / or Sanitary Sewer Collection
• Experience with Compiling Project Manuals. 
• Project Manual Preparation including Construction Contract Documents and Technical Specifications 
• Coordination with other Disciplines as necessary including Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Engineers. 
• Project Advertisement, Bidding, and Contracting. 
• Familiarity with Construction Administration and Observation. 
• Ability to Communicate Effectively to Design Team and Clients. 
• Able to Manage Multiple Projects at One Time. 
• Develop Project Schedules and Analyzing Project Budgets. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain effective liaison and relationships with clients on a variety of water and wastewater projects.
• Proactively engage in the development of new business, with a focus on existing clients.
• Develop project scope, budgets, and work plans and manage project adhering to these items.
• Consult with project team to provide technical guidance; outline work plan; assign duties and responsibilities; and resolve problems.
• Direct, coordinate, and supervise activities of project personnel and team members to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Provide leadership and direction by mentoring and motivating staff for teamwork and their career growth.
• Assist in the preparation of necessary calculations, reports, specifications and other project materials.
• Motivate team personnel toward performance excellence in all assigned tasks.
• Assist Practice with achievement of Financial Goals.
• Perform QA/QC functions to help ensure projects meet client expectations and engineering excellence.
• Take an active role in the preparation of proposals including development of work, schedules, fees, and overall content.
