Overview
Success awaits a hands-on, personable, motivated, professional Group Sales Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is an experienced, high-energy and empowered individual who will proactively provide constant support to the Sales and Events team as well as other necessary areas of operations.
Responsibilities
- Pursue business in SMERF market segments, with a focus on social groups, to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Complete weekly outreach to solicit new and untapped business leads within the Sales Manager's specified market segments.
- Be fully acquainted with all lead systems, including Cvent, and follow-up on all leads within the specified time guidelines.
- Knowledge of the RFP process, able to put together proposals and follow up in a timely manner.
- Negotiate guest room rates within approved booking guidelines.
- Regularly monitor and review all prospect, tentative and lost business inquires with the aim of driving increased conversion levels.
- Work closely with Catering Events team
- Organize group resumes for SMERF to communicate groups details to hotel operations team.
- Follow up with clients regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings.
- Leverage existing relationships, identify new business, and pursue neighborhood venues that have guest room potential.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to plan and schedule effectively. Ability to close business opportunities.
- Attend local SMERF tradeshows to represent the property.
- Conduct site tours to prospective clients. Presentations to key decision makers and top meeting planners. Organize and implement area sales blitzes, active in industry events. Travel as required.
Skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of Colleagues, clients, and vendors in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Reliable and have a sense of urgency with email communications and follow up.
- Efficient in basic computer usage and skills like MS Office programs
- Must have working knowledge of reservations and front office operations.
- Knowledge of Delphi is preferred. Knowledge of HMS, Synxis and Cvent is a plus.
- Requires the exercise of considerable managerial skill as position involves frequent decisions, meeting of deadlines, negotiations of contracts, analytical ability and the planning, organization development and coordination of large-scale projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required
- Minimum of (2) years’ experience in Hotel Sales role
- Extensive knowledge of negotiating and sales procedures associated with the hotel industry.
- Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
