Summary, Job Description, and Qualifications

Job Title: Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager
Direct Reports: None

Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• Provides supportive interventions, consultation, and training for young children (ages 0-6), early childcare staff, and families participating in service programs throughout assigned counties.
• Implement strengths-based resiliency and skill building curriculum assigned early childhood programs
• Provide consultation and behavior intervention services by request.
• Develop and run parent-child events to support social/emotional development and parent education
• Maintain accurate records of service delivery and timely completion of paperwork
• Attend collaborative team meetings to create positive change within a community
• Attend continuing education opportunities to obtain and/or maintain the Ohio Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant Credential
• Assists and supports the provision of individual, family, and group therapy, as well as crisis counseling. Any documented ODMH deliverable service will benefit from the oversight of the senior clinician/clinical supervisor and/or regional director. 
• Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to participation in agency and professional training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to use a computer; proficiency in Word and Electronic Health Record (EHR). 
• Bachelors Degree in a field of study related to early childhood education such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Education.
• LSW, LPC, other relevant professional license, or ability to acquire license before or shortly after starting employment.
• Minimum two years previous experience in Early Childhood field.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintains a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable. Some travel to client locations will be required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong teamwork and organization/time management skills.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to comply with The Village Network requirements for using restraints including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training.
• Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds independently.
• Must be able to remain alert to problems, needs or emergencies that might arise on any shift, maintaining a safe environment for the clients.
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels or personnel, internal and external to the company.
