Position Summary: A Memory Care Director is responsible for the overall implementation, delivery and coordination of the Connections Memory Care neighborhood resident services, including engagement and non-clinical health services as well as supporting and collaboration with the Health and Services Director/Coordinator. Coordinates all aspects of life for Memory Care residents including evaluation of residents upon admission and development of personalized plan or program for successful aging in community. Ensures residents satisfaction and achievement of their realistic goals. Motivates residents to function at highest level of independence. Assists in the oversight of property management, personnel administration, and provision of Resident services. May act as the ED for a specified period, potential for career growth to ED status.
Essential Duties:

  • Conducts interviews, orientation, and ongoing training of Memory Care Teams employees in accordance with Pegasus training policy and state regulatory guidelines
  • Coaches and counsels departmental employees in accordance with Pegasus Senior Living Human Resource policy
  • Manages the Memory Care employees in partnership with the Executive Director and Health and Wellness Team
  • Promotes the company's Connections Memory Care Philosophy in all aspects of their roles to include interactions with residents, family and staff and the daily oversight of operations of the Memory Care in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Assists with implementation of policies and procedures. Is familiar with state regulations governing Assisted Living and Memory Care. Assists in assuring compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Assists in ensuring staff adhere to all policies and procedures, all work, safety, and administrative rules.
  • Assists with assessing Residents on a timely basis prior to move in, collaborating with the Health and Wellness Director/Coordinator. Ensures service plans and interventions are personalized and confers with Wellness team on changes in resident condition. Develops strategic non-pharmaceutical behavior interventions to support resident outcomes effectively.
  • Acts as an advocate for Residents; assists in maintaining communication with designated agents as requested and required. maintains timely and open communication with family members to promote good relationships and keep them informed about resident's condition and community events; offers education, information, and support as needed.
  • Facilitates the development of Monthly Support Group for resident families.
  • Assists in assuring quality of Resident services. Maintains documentation in accordance with state requirements. Maintains current Dementia best practices knowledge to support the growth and skills development of the staff.
  • Participates in quarterly Individual Service Plan meetings in collaboration with Health and Wellness Director.
  • Responsible for the implementation of all Connections Memory Care policies and procedures. as well as systems (SingFit, Life Share, Matrix, etc.).
  • Assists in assuring building, Residents units, common areas and adjacent grounds are maintained by working with Executive Director. Assists in assuring safety and security of buildings, contents, and inhabitants (Residents, staff, visitors).
  • Designs and implements a robust engagement program for the residents in accordance with policies and procedures. Delegates programming assignments to Care Partner team and ensure compliance. Solely responsible for leading 25 % of daily programming while on duty. Collaborates with Life Enrichment director for community wide events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for helping seniors. Must have a genuine interest in the care of the elderly and for issues that impact the elderly.
  • Associates or bachelor s degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or related field Dementia certification, preferred.
  • Activities Director Experience, Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Montessori for Dementia Practitioner qualifications preferred.
  • Valid Licensed Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing license to practice in the state of employment, preferred. Three years of nursing experience, including management experience.
  • Three to five years of Memory Care experience, including management experience, program leadership, handling complex behavioral issues, educating families and staff on Dementia related topics.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn the theory and practice of Assisted Living and Dementia Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staff.
  • Must have a genuine interest in the care of the elderly and for issues that impact the elderly.
  • Must be able to cope with high levels of stress that position may cause.
  • Ability to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and to convey strong public-relations skills.
