Remote work for individuals who reside outside Texas but within the United States and its territories will be considered and requires Central Office approval. This position provides life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week and travel limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses). This position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work. Purpose To provide world class system administration for the University of Texas access control and video management solutions to better foster a safe, secure and inclusive environment for the students, staff and faculty. Responsibilities Document, plan, and execute maintenance and changes for business-critical servers. Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure and provide customers with appropriate security solutions. Provide supplementary end user application support to UT employees. Prepare and maintain systems documentation, including systems recovery materials, to ensure compliance with organizational standards, policies and best practices. Utilize virtual server environment to administer, update, and provide technical support for hosted applications. In conjunction with service clients, maintain a regular schedule of updates/installations which minimizes downtime. Communicate changes or upgrades that will affect client processes or practices. Develop and implement application customizations that will enhance security posture as well as provide assistance in multi-system integration. Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications Working experience with physical access control system administration. Experience maintaining operational and configuration procedures. Ability to independently troubleshoot technical problems and provide solutions. Proven ability to resolve basic issues associated with system management. Must possess a systematic approach to problem solving, combined with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Experience with server diagnostics, performance monitoring, and performance optimization. A thorough understanding of Windows Server configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and end user support for physical and virtual servers. Demonstrate a robust capacity for documentation of processes, topologies, and system configurations. The role also requires the ability to maintain and update accurate information across several systems including inventory records, knowledge base, and ticketing system. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications More than 3 years of experience. Relevant certifications and professional development education. One or more years of experience with monitoring tools such as Zenoss or Splunk. Work experience in higher education information technology. UT Austin IT experience with server and network support applications commonly used at UT Austin. Experience with specific tools including ServiceNow, OneDrive/SharePoint/Office 365, Box, VMware Fusion/Parallels Salary Range $65,000 depending on qualifications Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Work Shift Monday - Friday flexible from 7am-7pm.
