This position will create and support department communications, writing, editing, and designing official documents and publications. Position serves as an integral role in telling the story of the team that provides an unrivaled environment for the University to succeed in its mission, by building, renovating, and restoring the spaces and infrastructure where the UT community learns, teaches, conducts research, and works. Purpose Position will create and support communications for PDC, writing, editing, and designing official documents and publications. Provides consulting, planning, and disseminating communication projects. Position serves integral role in telling the PDC story and may occasionally support other Campus Operations departments. Responsibilities Develop external and internal communications for Planning, Design and Construction with the objective of informing or educating staff and campus clients. Includes correspondence, announcements, reports, presentations, frequently asked questions, etc. Provide proofing and editing, as requested, to management and staff in the department. Attend portfolio-wide editorial and communications meetings and university-wide communications meetings. Maintain a working knowledge of the University's and the department's style and visual guidelines. Develop and contribute to the department's online presence. This includes developing and posting content to the website and creating and collaborating on content to share on social media. Coordinate with director of communications on the design and development of other web-based tools and social media. Collaborate with leadership and communications director to develop and oversee the department's strategic communications plan. Use tools to track and measue communications efforts. Provide Planning, Design and Construction leadership with communications guidance and support. Provide support for construction advisories, media relations, outreach, and change management communications. Gather and write construction advisory content, working with project managers and director of communications. Develop story ideas and pitch them to director of communcations. Research and draft content on behalf of department. Draft project talking points. Assist with coordinating media requests. Manage general outreach and develop responses with director of communications. Take photos at events and to document department activities. Maintain a photography library. Provide communications support for employee outreach and recognitions efforts. Support promotion of events for the department. Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications 5 years professional experience in internal or organizational communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism or similar work. Excellent writing and communications skills. Experience using content management systems. Ability to work indepdently and to collaborate on teams. Experience working in Adobe Creative Suite and with programs such as Canva. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently or in concert with other teams to ensure appropriate coordination, time management and prioritization of competing tasks. Ability to use tact, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality. Ability to adhere to high ethical standards. Equivalent combination of relevant education or experience may be substituted. Preferred Qualifications 7 years professional experience in internal or organizational communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism or similar work.Experience working in the construction and architecture industries. Experience working with diverse staff populations. Experience with software and system implementations or software and system implementations in support of facilities, planning, operations, or maintenance. Experience in community, government, or media relations. Experience in public speaking and teaching, training, and coaching public speakers. Experience writing and communicating on behalf of executives and division leaders.
