Smith Services, a part of Timken Power Systems, is seeking a Field Services Technician for our Switchgear department at the Princeton service center.

The Field Service Technician supports the plant both internally and externally on switch gear, relay, breaker, and transformer repairs, on-site installations, on-site technical support and warranty work. The majority of work includes: extended outage work, breaker testing, relay testing, and transformer testing. This position also supports other field service activities such as, but not limited to, mechanical installations, alignments, etc. The Field Service Technician will also help to identify and develop equipment needs and growth opportunities within the department, particularly in the area of relay, breaker, and transformer testing.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing job walks at customer sites in order to develop and understand the scope and repair in order to quote the work and perform the work.
• Assures all work performed meets approved technical data and ensures maintenance records are accurate and complete.

• Participates in and recommends safety training and programs to support a safe working environment.

• Performs the following services both in plant and on customer sites:
• Secondary and Primary Injection Testing of Molded Case and Metal Clad Switchgear
• Repair and Overhaul of Low and Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers
• Retrofit and Upgrade of Obsolete Equipment with Solid State Trip Units
• Protective Relay and Meter Calibration
• Transformer Testing
• Oil Testing and Filtering
• High Potential Testing
• Thermographic Surveys (IR Inspection)
• Control Systems Troubleshooting
• Preventive Maintenance on Oil Circuit Breakers
• Maintains existing equipment and identifies new equipment and technology needed to perform all work.
• Identifies training and equipment needs in order to expand the range of services, i.e. VFDs and Soft Starts.

Basic requirements include:

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• AS in Electrical Engineering, strongly preferred.
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to obtain NON-DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
• Ability to obtain Mine Safety Certification (below and above ground) and OSHA Certification.
• 1-10 Years of Experience, strongly preferred
• General Knowledge of DC Equipment
• Out of town, overnight travel required
