Summary of Position
This position will work closely with the Director of Facilities Operations to lead in maintaining a standard of excellence for the church’s owned & leased buildings & grounds. Candidates should excel at identifying problems, managing internal and external partners, finding and executing solutions, have a keen eye for detail, and have a passion to serve others.
Qualifications and Requirements
5-10 years in building maintenance & repair or related field required
Has a passion for working in a church setting, stewarding the properties including aesthetics and functionality, and serving staff & congregation
Eye for/attention to detail required
Maintenance/handyman skills required to include: painting, sheetrock touch ups, light carpentry skills, toilet leaks & repairs, change lightbulbs, certain cleaning as needed
Ability to drive/operate a scissor lift
Technically proficient in email, spreadsheets (Google or Excel), word documents (Google Docs or Microsoft Word).
Ability to manage an online maintenance request system
Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems
Needs to have analytical reasoning & problem solving capabilities
Self starter/takes initiative without being asked
Ability to multi-task and thrive in a dynamic environment
Flexibility
Good verbal & written communication skills
Ability to receive direction and execute
Ability to give direction to subcontractors
Organizational & Time Management skills to work around/complete jobs for weekend service schedules
A member of the Summit Church or willing & able to become a member
Responsibilities
Meet with Director of Facilities Operations weekly to discuss work & priorities
Proficient in putting together project estimates using Excel/Google Sheets or Word/Google Docs, and sharing documents as needed
Proficient in reading/understanding building plans, will occasionally work with project architect or outside contractors.
Oversee and/or contract remodeling work on current facilities
Coordinate with campus staff teams on event setups & facility rentals
Oversee and manage facilities budget. Will work with Director of Facilities in setting yearly budget for Maintenance & Repair, Grounds Maintenance & Service Contracts
Field & respond to all internal facilities requests from staff
Manage on-site dayporter
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance plans for all building systems
Oversee and manage relationships with vendors & service contractors.
Some physical labor is involved, must be able to lift 50 pounds, push/pull 200 lbs and climb step ladder
Be prepared for occasional on-call for weekend emergencies or special events
Plan & organize security needs & repairs
Inspect and approve the work performance of subcontracted work to highest standard
Responds to maintenance requests entered through internal portal, and communicates expectations with staff
Build relationships with service vendors & work to get best pricing/as well as keep projects on schedule
Oversee execution of scheduled maintenance for building & grounds/exterior landscaping
Support the Summit Church initiative of facility stewardship through knowledge and practice of energy management and sustainability.
Performs related & unrelated duties as may be required
