Job Summary: 

We are looking for a Pastry Cook in New Buffalo, MI to join our team! This role will be responsible for preparing pastries, desserts, and baked goods, such as donuts, gelato, and more. Job Responsibilities: 

• Manage production of pastries and baked goods, such as donuts and gelato 
• Create seasonal additions and menu compliments while honoring successful items 
• Prepare food and stations prior to opening of the restaurant 
• Prepare food from the breakfast menu that is presentable and satisfying to all guests 
• Follow all preparation instructions, recipes, and plating guidelines
• Ensure the kitchen follows all health, safety, and hygiene codes and standards 
• Use a variety of equipment to prepare food items, such as knives, electric mixers, immersion blenders, food processors, scales, portion bags, gas stoves, ovens, etc.
• Aid in weekly kitchen inventory to order products necessary for all menu items

Required skills and experience:

• Minimum two years experience as a pastry cook
• Basic understanding of kitchen equipment and machinery, sanitation and health regulations, food-handling techniques, and cooking procedures
• Skills in baking bread, making and decorating cakes and pastries, and making gelato
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
• Skills in communication, organization, time-management, and teamwork 
• Availability full-time, including mornings, weekends, and holidays 
• Ability to stand and work in a kitchen for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs at a time
