SUMMARY: The HR Business Partner leads and manages the talent related agenda of the business and is a member of the leadership team for the Material Science and Engineering Division reporting directly to the VP of Operations. As an HR Business Partner, you will collaborate with lab directors and lead the talent management related agenda for the business. You will coach leaders and employees on all HR related topics. You will be the catalyst for change management projects and communications. The role works in a true partnership approach with the business and has the opportunity to learn about the different testing we do in each lab. They will identify and prepare development plans for employees and recommend outside training appropriate to prepare employees for our future growth. The role is 50% tactical and 50% strategic.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads the division's recruitment and selection strategy and associated activities and shares experiences with the wider HR team. Provides appropriate recruiting strategies for the key talent needed for the business.
- Derives a coherent HR and people strategy - prioritizes processes that will deliver the most benefits.
- Influences the strategic agenda by building relationships at key levels in the organization; gains their commitment and belief that HR can contribute to business results.
- Acts as member of the HR Management Team.
- Challenges the organizational structure of the internal client and proposes changes.
- Learns what drives the business and what the numbers look like.
- Builds strong relationships throughout the business and actively works in a partnership approach to fully understand the needs of the business and people.
- Leads and trains internal stakeholders on staffing excellence, and acts as a single point of contact for the employees and managers in the business unit.
- Facilitates the management team to bring best solutions for employees and the business.
- Develops personal and professional HR credibility through courage, integrity and initiative and with this, challenge business leaders.
- Proactively promotes HR interventions that will add to the bottom line today and in the future, instead of merely responding to requests for service.
- Proactively supports the delivery of HR processes at the client’s side.
- Manages complex and difficult HR projects cross-functionally.
- Actively identifies gaps, proposes and implement changes necessary to cover risks.
- Acts as the performance improvement driver and provokes positive changes in the people management.
- Designs and maintain organization vitality charts as the performance of the business unit improves.
- Designs succession plans for key talents and key job positions in conjunction with business leaders.
- Works as a team member across the HR function.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Ten (10) or more years of HR experience, preferably as an HR Generalist or HR Manager
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP)
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
