The Scion Group is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near Chicago, IL

Scion is seeking a talented Projects Manager, Capital Projects to join us in executing our vision. This position will focus on managing the successful execution of capital projects from inception to completion while maintaining compliance with Venture expectations and contractual deadlines.

The Projects Manager, Capital Projects will ensure accuracy and progression of each project and establish fluid communication regarding the projects with key stakeholders. This role demands excellent communication, mastery of planning, affinity for problem solving, flexibility and an attention to detail.

Construction Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Directs all capital projects to ensure capital spending plans are successfully executed and, where applicable, mandated or contractual deadlines, budgets, warranty and quality standards are met with compliance.
  • Responsible for project planning, scheduling and cost estimation for each project.
  • Provides timely and effective communication regarding project scope, status and schedule to appropriate corporate and property personnel.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with Venture governance expectations regarding bidding and contracting process.
  • Reviews change order requests and obtains company approval prior to moving forward.
  • Investigates project variances, submits variance reports to project accountant and communicates key insights to manager.
  • Provides reports on buy-out projections to appropriate management personnel.

What We Require for a Construction Project Manager

  • 5 years of previous project management and supervisory experience, preferably within the student housing or a similar multi-family sector.
  • College graduate preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 60-70% in a year.
