The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is Hiring a Fitness Specialist Near Camden, NJ

Overview

The Fitness Specialist is a position that is responsible for the delivery of wellness programs, personal training, and group exercise. Also assists in the assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all the Kroc Center Recreation Programs, including program promotion, talent recruitment, member retention, program statistics, and facility space management.

Responsibilities

Program Leadership:

  • Provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Fitness and Wellness programs.
  • Provide personal training, fitness, and wellness instruction as needed (teach 2-3 fitness classes per week)
  • Ensure that the Fitness and Wellness programs are coordinated to avoid facility usage conflicts.
  • Assist in delivering Wellness Programs and Workshops to meet the needs of all members.
  • Specifically relating to the 6 dimensions of health: physical, social, occupational, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.

Resource Management:

  • Submit requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies as needed.
  • Develop and enforce systems that safeguard any and all facilities, supplies, and equipment utilized by Fitness and Wellness programs.

Customer Service:

  • Treat all members with dignity and respect.
  • Ensure that injuries are reported in a timely manner and according to Kroc Center procedures.
  • Respond to customer concerns and complaints in a timely manner, seeking assistance and information as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current group exercise personal training certification from a credible organization such asthe : the American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) or Cooper Institute.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Related health/fitness field or equivalent combination of education, training, and prior work experience.
  • Evidence of leadership, problem-solving, and customer service capabilities.
  • Evidence of designing and developing innovative fitness and wellness programs.
  • Evidence of organizational skills and the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use email responsibly.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved to drive Salvation Army vehicles
