Overview

Director of Central Services at The Salvation Army Greater New York Divisional Headquarters (DHQ). Position is responsible for both managing Central Services Department and all graphic design/production for DHQ and Corps.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Central Services Department staff member (Mailroom Clerk) to ensure department responsibilities are completed. Encourage and train staff as necessary to ensure department efficiency.
• Manage all mail functions including, but not limited to, incoming, outgoing, and special mailings.
• Operate and maintain all existing printing and reproduction machines and accessories. Obtain quotes and put together proposals for the acquisition of new machines when necessary.
• Maintain stock inventory and distribution records relating to supplies for departments, coordinate purchase of all supplies and office equipment.
• Program Composition & Design:
• Preliminary layout and design relating to programs and materials for all departments at DHQ and Corps
• Production of print-ready completed programs/materials following approval of the officer/department head
• Supervise printing, collating, binding and delivery of finished programs/materials
• Maintain digital and hard copy archives of all project files and images
• Work on multiple projects from concept to completion, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines/budget goals, and maintain accuracy and quality control.
• Assist with all Divisional Special Events including, but not limited to, Luncheons, Farewells, Welcomes, Retirements, Youth Councils, Men’s Camp, Women’s Camp, Family Camp, other Army events happening at Star Lake Camp & Conference Center and Centennial Memorial Temple (CMT) creating backdrops with framing, building sets, props, signage, programs, schedules, illustrations, motion graphics, posters, ads, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design or equivalent education/experience
• 3-5 years of relevant design experience and proven design ability
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe CC InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat. Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint in both PC and Mac environments
• Ability and experience in effectively managing staff to complete multiple projects with tight deadlines achieving the highest level of quality control.
• Team player with a positive attitude and ability to motivate people to achieve the highest levels of quality
• Ability to operate basic power tools to build backdrop framing, props, etc.
