Job Title

Senior Systems Engineer

Location

Remote or Hybrid (Manchester, NH)

Summary

Implement, support, maintain, and manage IT services, including networking, IT security, email, and disaster recovery. Systems Engineers provide advanced technical support for desktop, server, and networking issues. Systems Engineers ensure all IT services are properly maintained and upgraded.

Provides Systems, Storage, Environment Management, and Network Management.

Provide subject matter expertise for both hardware and software.

Essential Functions

Senior Systems Engineers are expected to provide leadership and mentoring to other Engineers. Design higher-level solutions for the company and work with cross-functional teams to deliver the highest quality of customer service.

Related Functions

  • Designs, maintains, and enhances our hardware, storage, networks, and communication equipmentandensures it is supporting the business in a reliable, performant, and secure manner
  • Ensures that our software is maintained and operating efficiently

Required Skills

  • Manages our Development, Test & Production environments
  • Monitors our overall hardware, network, and software environment to ensure it conforms to Service LevelObjectives (SLOs)
  • Participates in hardware and software vendor management
  • Performs maintenance and upgrades to servers.
  • Oversees Systems availability (ExtraHop, Uila, ServiceNow Ops Manager)
  • Troubleshoots and monitors network performance and availability, Monitors disk space
  • Respond to requests and creates environments/servers based on user specs and projects
  • Provides backup Database Administration (DBA) and Release Management support
  • Ensures the security of data
  • Install/Monitor virtual VMware environment / takes action to maintain availability and balance
  • Configures and maintains Cisco network equipment, servers, and server clusters
  • Knowledge of CiscoNetworking equipment is a must
  • Oversee anti-virus, backups, imaging, and patching
  • Maintains all infrastructure to be compliant with corporate security policy
  • Upholds Active Directory (user accounts and related repository)
  • Retain data access permissions and security
  • Maintains and monitors antivirus software and definitions.
  • Tests and improves Disaster Recovery plans
  • Supports Business Continuity Plan testing and implementation
  • Maintains network documentation
  • Assesses and compares hardware and software products and requests hardware and software quotes from vendors
  • Engineers/Installs/Administers cloud-based or externally hosted applications such as Azure
  • Provides second-tier diagnostics and resolution of technical hardware and software issues
  • Advises users on appropriate action/provides instruction
  • Follows standard Service Desk procedures, logs all Service Now interactions, and addresses monitoringtickets
  • Identifies and escalates situations requiring urgent attention
  • Microsoft Azure and Office365 engineering and administration
  • Network Firewall administration
  • Maintain ZERTO VMWare replication application
  • Cohesity Backup to Disk solution
  • Cohesity Microsoft 365 backup

Experience

  • 10-15yearsindustry experience is preferred

Required Education

• Four-year college degree in Computer Science or a related field. Additional equivalent years of experience in Information Technology can be substituted for a degree.

Preferred Education or Certification

• Certifications: Microsoft AD, MicrosoftAzure, VMWare, Cisco, Citrix, Zerto, ExtraHop, Dell, NetApp, HP, AWS, Sonicwall
