The RealReal is Hiring an Employee Relations Specialist Near San Francisco, CA

As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will provide guidance, support and expertise on confidential employee relations and compliance matters to our People team and cross-functional business partners, and managers. This role will conduct and lead investigations, manage complex accommodation cases, run risk assessments, and think creatively and outside of the box on process efficiencies and strategic initiatives. Work closely with the Sr. Employee Relations Manager and partner with the People Business Partners to find solutions that reduce risk and ensure the approach on resolutions are consistent and fair within all business groups. 

You will be a great fit if you are experienced in Human Resources with a strong ethics and passion for fostering a positive organizational culture; and are adaptable, approachable, and strong in building relationships.

What You Get To Do Every Day

  • Conduct initial intake and assessment on employee relations and compliance matters; and maintain confidentiality on all cases
  • Develop and maintain close partnership with People Business Partners to drive forward business strategy and objectives
  • Provide guidance, risk assessment and expertise to the People Team and / or business partners and managers to ensure our practices are being consistent and fair 
  • Support cross-functional partners on compliance matters, e.g. health & safety team, legal / compliance team
  • Track and manage compliance training to all employees, e.g. Annual Harassment & Discrimination Prevention Training, labor law posters, background checks, etc.
  • Act as a subject matter expert with TRR policies and best practices for our People Team and Managers; and support and develop policies, as needed 
  • Track and manage the Ethics Hotline platform and cases; and other platforms used to track cases
  • Develop standardized processes, templates tools and/or technologies on managing / tracking employee relations activities and escalated issues resolution protocols
  • Develop the appropriate metrics and analyze data to identify trends, recommend directions and provide guidance needed to adjust unfavorable trends
  • Develop and build out manager training, as needed; and support manage compliance initiatives

What You Bring To The Role

  • 3-5 years of HR generalist / HRBP role, with 2-3 years of ER experience
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and discretion; able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations (multi-state), compliance and employee relations matters; specific but not limited to EEOC, ADAA, FMLA, CFRA, NY PFL, NJ FLA, etc.
  • Prior experience with HRIS systems, Workday preferred, and any compliance training platforms also preferred
  • Run risk assessment on cases and involuntary terminations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • PHR Certification, is a plus
