Bartender Summary:
The Bartender is responsible for ensuring diners have a positive experience at our food establishment by exhibiting genuine customer service and a great drinking experience. Their duties include preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar and restaurant guests, communicating with members of the kitchen about orders and carrying meals or beverages to the correct guests. The Bartenders ultimate goal will be to provide high-quality service that will help us maintain and attract guests.
Ok Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
General:
The Bartender will be responsible for making all of our guests feel important and welcomed into our restaurant. The bartender will present food, wine, and cocktail menu options, answer questions and make menu recommendations based on rotating menu and daily specials. The bartender must know all food, liquor, wine, and retail offered. Assisting with the tidying of tables and bar counters, clearing leftovers and keeping the dining area neat and pleasant. Bartenders must also have an eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
Financial:
The Bartender will be responsible for following all cash, credit, and debit card handling policies and procedures placed by the restaurant management. The bartender will also be responsible for reviewing for accuracy and processing payments of food and drink orders using the Point Of Sale (POS) system, and ringing in each drink in the POS system as soon as they are served. The bartender must also comply with the restaurant’s policies for the distribution of tips throughout the server’s assistants. The bartender will be responsible for a cash drawer, from beginning cash counts to ending cash counts and balancing the drawer. Basic mathematical skills will also be required.
Food & Safety:
The Bartender must coordinate with the kitchen staff, restaurant servers, and other bar staff to deliver accurate and prompt food/drink orders. Checking guest’s identification and confirming it meets legal drinking age before being served any type of alcoholic beverage. The bartender must be knowledgeable of common food allergens and be able to communicate any guest allergies to the kitchen. Memorization of all offered menus will also be required. The bartender will also be required to follow basic safety guidelines in the kitchen (i.e. non-slip shoes, hair pulled back, proper handwashing) and bar (i.e. ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean) to comply with Food and Safety regulations. Maintain a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glassware, utensils, and equipment.
Guest Service:
The Bartender must provide the perfect dining experience for restaurant patrons by adhering to timing standards for products and services. Must have a positive, engaging personality, and professional appearance. Welcome guests to the restaurant and thank guests for coming in upon their departure. Bartenders must apply a positive suggestive sales approach to guide guests throughout our menu, assess guest needs and preferences, make recommendations, and accurately take food and drink orders at all times. Interaction with guests while promptly attending to drink orders must be harmonious. The bartender must also handle feedback, compliments or complaints, with a positive attitude. The bartender may also be asked to set tables and rearrange the dining area to accommodate larger groups and prepare the restaurant for special events
Requirements:
Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, have clear written and verbal communication skills, have the physical abilities to carry out the functions of the job description, availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Must have all certifications and licenses as required by local Health Department and Alcoholic Beverage Control statutes, as well as a high school diploma. Must be able to responsibly verify age requirements, know alcohol pairing and tastes, and handle cash transactions. Must be able to consolidate and coordinate needs for all bar guests and tables within their section. Must be able to carry food and beverages, and able to work in a team environment. Ability to plan and present a bar menu, excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks. Restocking, replenishing, and maintenance of bar inventory, par levels, and supplies must be completed and reported to the supervisor.
Accountabilities:
The Bartender will need to keep the Manager and Owners promptly and fully informed of all issues (i.e. problems, unusual matters or significance and positive events) and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action. Bartenders will need to complete job responsibilities and performance objectives in a timely and effective manner and in accordance with procedures. Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees in order to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate; which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness. At all times, the bartender must provide a favorable image to promote “Genuine Service” philosophy to employees and guests. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

The Bartender will need to be able to perform all functions at the restaurant level. The position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion. The bartender will also be required to work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operating phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment. The bartender will be assigned barback(s) in order to keep the flow of the dining experience a pleasant one with our guests and to promote the interaction between staff and guests.
