The Modern Sewist Quilt Shop & BERNINA Studio is hiring an Assistant to the Manager. We are looking for a competent sewist with retail experience who can provide excellent customer service and support our sewing community.

In this full-time position, you will report directly to the Store Manager and support them by assisting with purchasing, receiving, scheduling, class coordination, BERNINA Education and day-to-day operations. While it is not a requirement to know (or sew) on a BERNINA, it is vital that the candiate be willing and enthusiastic about learning this integral part of The Modern Sewist's business.

Expected Hours: Tuesday-Saturday from 9:30-5:00 and some weekend events during the year

Responsibilities and Expectations:

• Customer service
• Inventory management
• Knowledge of products we carry
• Cross-selling of products
• Staying current with new products/services
• Coordinate with Store manager and shop owner on all aspects of the business
• Provide customer feedback to Store Manager
• Process online orders
• Shipping and receiving
• Must be able to work Saturday's

Skills:

• Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Associate or similar role
• Quick and eager learner
• Comfortable with sewing - bonus points for BERNINA knowledge
• Computer skills (our point of sale system is on a Mac)
• Quilt math skills
• Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Quilting, machine embroidery and embroidery software knowledge is a real plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
