The Metropolitan Water District of Southern... is Hiring an Assistant Engineer I (Construction Contracts) Near Los Angeles, CA

Job Overview:
An Engineer at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) can expect to work on some of the largest water treatment, storage, conveyance, distribution and recycling projects in the world. We deliver an average of 1.5 billion gallons of high quality water per day to a 5,200-square-mile service area in Southern California for 19 million people.
Assistant Engineer I candidates for the positions listed below will work with engineers, project managers, construction managers, contract developers and administrators, water system operations staff, and technical specialists under direct supervision in an exciting and dynamic environment while learning and assisting from the best within the water industry.
Currently, our Engineering Service Group has six (6) openings for an Assistant Engineer I on various teams listed below. These positions are with the Construction Contracts Team, Corrosion Engineering Team, Equipment Design Team, Facility Design Team, General Design Team and Power Design Team. You must apply separately for each position. These entry-level professional engineering positions are located at Metropolitan’s offices in downtown Los Angeles or La Verne, California.

Construction Contracts Team

Develops specifications and administers construction contracts. The successful applicant will learn and apply principles of preparing public works construction contract documents including preparation and review of plans and specifications, bidding procedures, addressing bid protests, contract document management, and contract administration processes regarding warranty, insurance, bonding, payment, scope, and schedule.
An Assistant Engineer I on the Construction Contracts Team will assist specification writers and construction contract administrators to develop contract documents, including technical specifications for Public Works construction contracts, in coordination with design engineering staff and construction field staff. This position coordinates with project managers, engineers and field staff to administer construction contracts over the lifespan of a capital investment project and provides input on design, construction, cost, schedule and contract related questions.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field by hired date.
Related Field is defined as: A degree in a related field: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
