About the Position

The Markup is seeking a part-time, temporary-to-permanent IT Support Specialist to join our Product and Technology team. We’re a small but growing organization which is primarily local to NYC with some staff spread across the US. We’re looking for experienced self-starters with a strong background supporting MacOS environments, geographically distributed teams, and Github/Gitlab workflows. This is a remote position with a preference for candidates in the New York City area.

The ideal candidate will have experience providing a high level of customer service and technical support for end user software, hardware, and cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Onboard new staff onto our technical platforms and offboard departing staff (platform account creation/management)
• Manage the distribution of physical security keys (YubiKey, etc.)
• Manage inventory of company hardware including laptops
• Troubleshoot various software, hardware, and infrastructure related issues for our staff and business partners
• Participate in team discussions about planning, strategy, security threats, and new technology
• Update, maintain, and develop documentation for internal IT practices and systems
• Maintain the security and compartmentalization of sensitive or confidential information stored on our systems

Qualifications

• Extensive experience supporting Apple laptops and MacOS
• Strong knowledge of Apple MDM processes and software (e.g. Jamf Pro)
• Ability to clearly communicate technical topics to non-technical users
• Ability to triage incoming issues and prioritize appropriately
• Experience with maintaining systems that use SSO
• Knowledge of encryption and its best practices in an IT environment
• Experience supporting Google Workspace, and a wide variety of popular Cloud SaaS platforms (i.e. Zendesk, Slack, Github, Adobe CC)

Nice to haves

• Experience managing Microsoft 365
• Start-up experience
• Scripting and automation skills

Compensation and Other Details

This is a part-time hourly position comprising up to 20 hours per week until February 10, 2023. This position will start as temporary with the potential to be permanent. The minimum hourly rate is $35 per hour, but the actual rate will be established based on the successful candidate's experience, education, and skills.

This position is open to remote workers in the United States.

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Monday to Friday (excluding holidays)
