GROWING CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAW FIRM SEEKING A PARALEGAL

We are a fast-growing, well-established criminal defense and family law firm that has an excellent reputation for high quality criminal legal representation. We are looking to bring on a highly motivated Paralegal who fits our Firm’s culture and has a can-do attitude. We are looking for a dedicated individual to fill either a full time or part time position. If you have a minimum of 2 years of working in a law firm as a Paralegal and enjoy a fast-paced environment, this is an opportunity for you!

Compensation:

$26 - $32 hourly

Responsibilities:

This position requires knowledge of MAC OS, as we are a MAC based office. The right candidate will assist with case planning, legal research, and client interviews under the supervision of staff attorneys. The right candidate will have confidence communicating on the phone with the legal system, agencies, vendors, current clients and potential clients. You will be required to draft legal documents and correspondence; keep track of client case stages and matters; process legal documentation - including scanning, photocopying, and periodic filing.

Additionally, you will:

  • Receive, examine, evaluate, and brief new and complex criminal cases for the legal team
  • Organize and manage discovery for the attorneys
  • Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence
Qualifications:
  • ABA-approved paralegal certificates program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies OR a Journalism degree with a focus in ethics/law
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience working under an attorney in a law firm, public defender’s office, or state/federal prosecutor’s office
  • Experience drafting legal correspondence and motions for attorney review
  • Familiarity, and comfort using Westlaw or Lexis Nexis legal research suites
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Mac Operating System experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and comfortable with software systems (CRM, CMS) used to support legal work.
