The Local House Hotel is Hiring an Assistant Operations Manager Near Miami, FL

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the front desk team and training employees
  • Reporting to the hotel general manager regarding guest satisfaction, and front desk employee progress and issues
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communications and coordination with other departments
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for guests at the front desk, checking guests in and out, and resolving any guest issues
  • Utilizing excellent customer service skills, and welcoming all guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services and room location
  • Answer phones and emails in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Up-sell rooms where possible to maximize hotel revenue
  • Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures, including but not limited to posting charges, completing cashier and other reports, and preparing deposits
  • Communicate any outstanding guest requests or issues to management that may require additional monitoring or follow-up
  • Respond appropriately to guest complaints, and make appropriate service recovery gestures in order to ensure total guest satisfaction
  • Book guest reservations that are requested either by phone or from within the hotel. Process cancellations, revisions, and information updates on reservation changes
  • Perform clerical duties and other duties as assigned including guest room tours, concierge services, special guest requests, etc.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years experience in a hotel front desk position
  • Fluent verbal and written English skills
  • Previous management or supervisor experienced preferred
  • Some college education is preferred
  • Spanish speaking or bilingual candidates preferred
  • Previous experience working front desk in a boutique hotel setting preferred

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Frequently standing up
  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Computer and office equipment proficiency
  • Communication skills
  • Proficient and fluent level of reading and writing
  • Basic math skills
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating and training abilities
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Availability to occasionally cover a 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am shift is needed for emergency situations

Overview

This position is a full time position, consisting of 5 shifts per week from 7am to 3pm. Since our boutique hotel only has 18 rooms, the majority of your shifts will be solo at the front desk. This is a temp to hire position, meaning the decision to keep a candidate onboard may be affected by their performance during the training period. All training is paid, and we do hire and train with the intent of full on-boarding. We are looking for someone who wants to stay and grow with the company.

Additional Information

We don't have onsite parking available, but this position does come with a free parking spot through our valet company which is located up the street from our hotel.

This position includes 5 days paid vacation (available after being with the company for a year minimum). The position does not include any other benefits such as health insurance.
