The Lisbon Group, LLC is Hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer Near Houston, TX

Company and Role Summary:

The Lisbon Group provides services within three primary core competencies: Engineering, EPC project execution and management, and Operations Services. We use our recognized expertise in upstream, midstream and LNG production facilities to provide full multi-disciplinary engineering services, EPC Contracting, and operational services. We are a learning organization and take the lessons learned from the projects we complete to continuously improve each of our core competencies. Our Engineering Services Group is responsible for delivering: 

  • Upfront engineering, Feasibility Studies, Conceptual Designs and Front-end Engineering Designs (FEEDs)
  • Procurement Engineering and Assistance
  • Detailed Design (Detailed Process, Mechanical, Civil / Structural Engineering)
  • Safety studies such as HAZOP / HAZID / SIL, vapor dispersion and hazard analysis
  • Over pressure protection system audit and design, hydraulic line sizing, etc.
  • HAZOP/HAZID/SIL
  • Design & Drafting: PFD’s, PID’s, 3D Mechanical, 3D Laser Scanning, as-builts
  • Field engineering, project engineering
  • Site assistance, owner representation, facility acceptance
  • Facility performance and optimization
  • Construction Support and pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up plans & procedures
  • Owner’s Engineering Services

Mechanical Project Engineer Mission:

The mission of the Mechanical Project Engineer is to ensure successful project delivery defined by serving as technical engineering accountability for the delivery of Facility Layouts, Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering integration. Manages internal and external engineering and CAD design resources to deliver complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects deploying the right resources at the right time to exceed customer expectations. Identifies and closes all technical gaps between the disciplines Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering disciplines. Takes technical accountability for sub-vender scopes of supply for packaged equipment and equipment items. Ability to multi-task and deliver multiple concurrent small to medium size projects.

Accountabilities:

  • Engineering Accountability for facility layouts which comply with DOT 49 CFR 193, NFPA 59a, and other relevant codes and standard. 
  • Engineering Accountability for the delivery of Facility Layouts, Plot Plans, Mechanical Orthographic, Piping Isometrics, Skid Design Packages
  • Manage and directly support CAD resources to deliver Facility Layouts, Plot Plans, Mechanical Orthographic, Isometrics, Skid Design Packages, etc. by providing task priority and engineering support
  • Own Lisbon Group Pipe Specification meeting ASME B31.3 and DOT 49 CFR 192
  • Engineering Accountability and Approval of subcontracted equipment including subcontracted packaged equipment, vessels, heat exchangers, air-coolers, heaters, columns, pumps, etc. Overall accountability along with, accountable for mechanical approval along with consolidation of comments from process / instrumentation groups.
  • Accountable for integration of equipment into both custom skid packages and BOP / stick-built designs by working with Design Group to define nozzle rotation and elevations, identify and resolve piping conflicts for subcontracted packaged equipment, vessels, heat exchangers, air-coolers, heaters, columns, pumps, etc.
  • Engineering accountability and direct development of line lists including relevant definition of NDE requirements, pneumatic and hydrostatic test requirements, operating and design boundary conditions
  • Manage and take accountability for pipe stress sub-contractor. Integrate pipe stress (outsourced) and mechanical design (internal) to delivery complete IFC mechanical package. Define pipe supports with pipe stress sub-contractor
  • Define custom skid package weights through internal estimation method accounting for equipment, structural steel, piping, etc.
  • Manage and take accountability for civil / structural design package through the use of external subcontracted firm for the delivery of foundation design, structural steel pipe supports, racks and structural steel skids
  • Be able to specify mechanical equipment through the development and completions of equipment datasheets, lists, etc. for columns, vessels, heaters, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, modulating and on/off control valves, ESD valves, hand valves specialty items, etc.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering small to medium size multi-disciplinary projects where you were directly accountable for identifying and closing technical gaps to exceed customer expectations
  • We are an engineering and EPC contractor- a career dedicated to engineering contracting and EPC project execution is required to be successful. 15 years related offshore and onshore upstream, midstream, or LNG facility experience with engineering contractor (required)
  • Bachelor of science degree in mechanical, chemical engineering or related (required)
  • Experience developing and owning reports, creating and documenting, , summary reports and PowerPoint slide decks (required) and leading customer review meetings
  • A proven ability to guide, coach and support the development of engineers, CAD designers, etc. (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (required)
  • Ability to interact effectively with vendors and clients (approximately 50% of your work involves internal interaction - 50% external)
  • International experience - we execute work across the globe (beneficial)
  • Field experience including construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational support (beneficial)
  • Experience working with intelligent design systems such as Autocad plant 3D required

Travel to customer sites will be required. Current customer locations including throughout the US was well as potential for some international travel to Canada, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Mexico and other countries in Central America and Africa. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel globally. Expected total travel is up to 25% after initial training is complete.
