Position Summary

As the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) you will play a critical role in helping the company manage all of our expenses across the whole organization. 

Reporting to the Director, FP&A, you will provide examination of actual results and related insights against our forecasts, as well as expectations (along with examination of the why) of trends that would inform our future forecasts. 

You will act as the central consolidation point for all departmental expenses and build strong partnerships, where the full view of our financial results comes together in support of executive financial reviews, external reporting, and investor relations. 

You will be the central business partner for all of our teams in managing their spend - including Product, Engineering, Growth, Infrastructure departments, and closely collaborate with the revenue side of the business to ensure all of your critical decisions and analysis have a comprehensive view and assessment.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the central business partner for our expenses at League: You will be expected to deeply understand our expenses, against the backdrop of key drivers, and help make informed decisions across the organization - by influencing using your expertise, League’s background (and future), and be a proactive leader to action on these changes.
  • Be a People Leader: You will be managing two direct reports, along with a lot of key internal stakeholders, as such, it will be important to have managing & leadership capabilities, such as guiding with empathy, challenging directly, fostering a culture where people can take risks and be given support along the way. We would be looking for a proven track record to develop team members to be their best version of themselves, and continually grow the team.
  • Champion Systems & Scale Processes: Alongside our FP&A Systems Manager, you will ensure our Financial Model in Workday Adaptive is accurate and scalable for multiple use cases, including; our operational forecast to manage our expenses & revenue, fundraising, strategic initiatives and more. Experience with Adaptive (or similar FP&A cloud-based tool) is essential. It will be expected to be an expert in truly understanding our business in and out - in order to be a thought leader in not only making our model the best it can be, but also clearly articulating it to relevant stakeholders for greater adoption and understanding of it.
  • Work Cross-Functionally to Problem Solve: You will provide thoughtful solutions and recommendations, in order to drive business outcomes and support company growth. You will be constantly at the forefront of helping our departments make efficient and effective recommendations around hiring, optimizing our tech stack, along with guiding hosting costs, among other expenses, that’s clear, informed, and keeping scaling at the forefront of our minds.
  • Deploy best in class practices: Extensive experience with Publicly-listed companies, or working in a high-growth company with great processes, would be preferable, as we would look to you to guide us with our management of expenses across the organization - both operational management and as well, from scaling perspective, that is grounded in best in class methodologies.
  • Manage the Monthly Reporting & Budget to Actual Analysis: Closely working with the Financial Reporting team to prepare monthly external and internal reporting packages - including inputs into our Board Packages. Assisting with tracking and reporting on budget to actual results, with high attention to details, along with proactively actioning on variances so that they are managed effectively. Communicating results (and necessary actions required) to key stakeholders via Adaptive Dashboards and accurately incorporating key changes on a go-forward basis to support Company goals, will be expected from you.
  • Cash Management: Work closely with the Financial Operations team in intricately forecasting, tracking and reporting on our Cash management, especially our expenses. You will also work on forecasting cash requirements for our business based on current and future movements in foreign exchange, in a timely manner.
  • Managing the Hiring Plan: With our key stakeholders across the organization and our talent team, ensuring that our hiring is adhering to plan, as well, providing meaningful insights (hiring velocity, vacancy, etc.) that informs key hiring decisions to ensure we hit our company roadmaps and milestones.

What we hope to see in your profile:

  • Bachelor of Science and/or Business degree 
  • CPA, CFA or CBV designation preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in FP&A and business modelling
  • Experience in fast growing private VC-backed companies with maturing processes, or have grown extensively with a company that went public. 
  • A proven leader with the ability to effectively manage and develop an FP&A team
  • An excellent communicator and presenter with an ability to influence, with strong interpersonal skills: You have the ability to coordinate processes across multiple stakeholders, and are comfortable with interactions and presentations for different levels of stakeholders 
  • An excellent problem solver, with an ability to build collaborative relationships with highly innovative stakeholders from various functions to help pilot change-management initiatives
  • A track record of success in delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights, Salesforce and NetSuite
  • Willingness to work during Eastern Time Zone business hours
  • A self-starter who thrives on delivering results strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to identify and communicate strategic opportunities
