The League for People with Disabilities Inc is Hiring a Volunteer Coordinator Near Baltimore, MD

Description

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing The League’s organizational-wide volunteer program. The volunteer coordinator's responsibilities include recruiting and training new volunteers, managing a database of volunteer information, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization's purpose to the public. The Volunteer Coordinator will be a member of the Human Resources and Development & Marketing Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Volunteer Engagement 

  • Recruit, supervise and retain volunteers for The League to support various program and department needs.
  • Interview new volunteers and match them with specific activities of interest, and track activity level and satisfaction. 
  • Maintain regular communication; ensure volunteers follow established processes and procedures. 
  • Work closely with League leadership staff in identifying volunteer opportunities.
  • Working closely with various programs and departments at The League, match volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensure they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training. Manage all onboarding for new volunteers.
  • Work with the Training Coordinator to identify all volunteer training needs. This includes identifying all training needs, developing the curriculum for the training, coordinating logistics for the training, and executing all new and ongoing volunteer training needs.
  • Coordinate and support volunteer awareness activities in assigned areas. 
  • Promote expansion of opportunities for awareness activities in volunteer communities nationwide.

-Relationship Building 

  • Develop and maintain effective supportive relationships with volunteers; provide communication and engagement throughout each volunteer’s tenure. 
  • Work with volunteers to identify new ways to stay involved as their interests or availability change. 
  • Contribute to opportunities for volunteers to grow in leadership within the organization. 
  • Assist with planning annual volunteer appreciation activities, with a strong focus on National Volunteer Appreciation week.
  • Be a representative for The League in the community by making connections with organizations that will support The League’s volunteer program. 
  • Attend events, fairs, and other appropriate community activities that support The League’s volunteer recruitment and community outreach needs.

-Database Maintenance and Support

  • Maintain volunteer information in The League’s database to include a comprehensive listing of all volunteers, locations, and interests; utilize the database for centralized reporting on volunteer status, training, and activity; contribute to the development of scalable, automated processes to ensure ease of tracking as the volunteer network grows.

Requirements

  • Manage all volunteer information, including contact information, availability, and skills. Manage volunteer schedules and record of their work. Maintain this information in an up-to-date database.
  • Use marketing tools such as outreach programs, e-mails, social media, and volunteer databases to recruit new volunteers and volunteer groups.
  • Support development activities as assigned, including all major special events.
  • Attend monthly Club 1111 sessions.

Qualifications Requirements: 

  • An associate's degree in business management, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in volunteering and recruitment.
  • Working knowledge of databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and team-building skills.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate volunteer schedules.
  • Contribute to The League’s publications and materials for volunteer program promotion and recruitment
