Job Summary
The Security Manager is responsible for organizing and overseeing all security operations of The King Center. Security managers oversee asset protection for businesses and companies, from the protection of people and staff to the prevention of theft and inventory loss. While developing and implementing policies, the Security Manager is responsible for maintaining security standards and supervising staff.
The Security Manager must demonstrate excellent leadership, surveillance and emergency response skills and have a strong commitment to security rules and knowledge of all hazards and threats to safety. The goal is to create and preserve an environment where employees, visitors and property are safe and well-protected.
Responsibilities
• In collaboration with the department of facilities and HR, the security manager will assist with onboarding security staff and/or vetting security vendor.
• Conduct business continuity, crisis management, and workplace violence prevention along with disaster preparedness plans.
• In collaboration with the Executive Office, educate staff and security personnel around KC security procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure the safety of staff and guests.
• Ensure proper coverage of grounds with special attention to the crypt, eternal flame, CSK monument, exhibits, and bookstore.
• Ensure the security team completes hourly rounds of the grounds including parking lot and alley.
• Train and supervise security officers and guards.
• Oversee and manage security vendor relationship.
• Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms.
• Prepare and review reports on incidents and breaches.
• Investigate and resolve safety and security issues.
• Create reports for management on security status.
• Coordinate security operations for special events with local law enforcement agencies as well as private security companies
• Plan and implement security measures with local law enforcement and National Park Services as required for special guests and dignitaries during special events.
• Provide security training to employees on topics such as recognizing security risks and how to respond to emergencies nonviolently.
• Perform risk assessments to determine potential security risks in a specific location or scenario.
• Maintain physical security by monitoring building access controls, surveillance systems, and other security measures.
• Make recommendations regarding the best monitoring technology.
• Monitor security equipment such as alarms, cameras, and locks to ensure proper functioning.
• Draft and submit reports and work orders related to fire, safety, and security operations.
• Conduct inspections to identify fire, safety, and security risks; recommend and implement solutions.
• Conducts risk management audits and asset loss investigations.
• When needed or as requested by the Executive Office patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
• Ensure security guards and security vendor patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
• Conduct investigations of accidents and incidents with the goal of resolution and reduction of future occurrences.
• Coordinate schedule for security guards and security vendor to ensure adequate coverage for daily operations as well as special events.
• Document, track, and provide follow through on significant incident reports.
• Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences
• Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures.
• Manage budgets for security operations and monitor expenses.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, business management, or related field preferred
• At least five years of safety/security experience required.
• Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in security management
• Previous experience working as a security officer or other security-related job.
• Industry standard security certifications
• Post-secondary training in security administration or management is preferred.
• Working knowledge of any required computer programs and security technology
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to monitor surveillance systems and respond to emergency situations.
• Experience in reporting and emergency response planning
• Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
• Solid understanding of budgeting and statistical data analysis
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
• Committed and reliable

• Extensive knowledge of fire prevention, safety, and security operations.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to endure prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk while working
on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
• Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
