Summary The IT Platform Solutions and Intelligence team is seeking a Software Engineer III with solid experience in designing, implementing, and supporting production-quality software systems meeting the diverse needs of a multi-functional organization. The ideal candidate will work as part of a value-stream aligned Agile team to design, develop, evaluate, and support software solutions to meet the rapidly growing, increasingly complex data processing needs of The Jackson Laboratory. A background and/or experience in supporting Microsoft 365 and/or ERP solutions is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have: Strong experience in object-oriented programming language such as Java or C# Experience in cloud technologies, most specifically Microsoft Azure Experience working with ERP solutions like Workday, Infor, Dynamics Experience implementing unit tests and working with testing tools. Expertise in IDE tools and DevOps strategies. Proven initiative and organizational skills to prioritize complex tasks, projects, and workflow, and use independent judgment to make decisions regarding operations and deadlines. Excellent analytical and technical skills. Exposure to Agile software development life cycle process and concepts such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Test-Driven Development. Responsibilities Collaborate with team members to understand data processing needs and identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and configure software solutions to address identified opportunities. Implement proper security and governance controls. Provide leadership and input into our evolving software development practices. Effectively interact with non-technical management and business stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field is required 3-5 years of experience for level II and 6 years of experience in software development required for level III. Demonstrated proficiency in a modern object-oriented programming language. Knowledge of the following technologies is preferred: SSIS, Azure Data Factory, JavaScript, PowerShell, SQL, HTML/CSS, REST APIs, GIT. Familiarity with common data structures and algorithms. Web programming experience and basic understanding of network protocols. Ability to configure and use compute resources in the cloud is a plus. Experience with 3 or more for level II and 4 or more of the following for level III: paired and mob programming, automated unit and functional testing, manual testing, user-centered design, test or behavior-driven development, and continuous integration/continuous deployment. Familiarity with 3 or more for level II and 4 or more of the following leadership skills for level III: collaboration, product management, facilitation, influence, conflict resolution, and mentorship. Experience identifying customer needs, communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences, and providing general customer application support. Experience producing high-quality work with limited direct supervision.
