Haskells Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. Our diverse and innovative team allows Haskell to serve our clients with multiple project delivery methods including design-build, engineer-procure-construct, fee-for-service, or consulting services. These services allow our team to form a strong rapport with clients, marshalling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. Projects include designing conveyor control systems, PLC/HMI programming, & the integration of packaging and warehouse systems. Our Senior Engineer is expected to execute a project from beginning to end and will be able to manage a small team of control engineers for both design and startup aspects of a project.

You will be exposed to a myriad of packaging processes. Typical engagements last between 212 months with the field support phase lasting 26 weeks. Your ability to be analytical and methodical will serve you well when youre part of an organization that has been ranked #1 by ENR for Food and Beverage contractors in 2020. As a Project Engineer for our Packaging Automation group at Haskell, you will be able to fully utilize your intellect and ability to execute precision work that produces sound results.

You will have the opportunity to apply your critical problem-solving strengths and balanced judgment to tackle complex challenges to achieve the desired outcome. You will help execute large-scale food and beverage packaging projects from concept through handoff. Additionally, your high level of competency with Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation will ensure you continue to deliver high-quality and effective controls design, programming, and start-up solutions.

This unique opportunity will allow you to gain a wide range of experience in various packaging and material handling projects. You will also collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines as well as have the opportunity to mentor younger engineers. This role will provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to employ state-of-the-art tools to craft customized, fully integrated packaging systems. Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform design calculations related to tasks assigned
  • Design low voltage (typically 480VAC and lower) power and control systems for automated packaging applications including control system panels, motor controls center specifications, safety systems, and automation network design
  • Prepare scopes of work, bills of material, specifications, and other necessary project documents
  • Maintaining schedules, and being cost-efficient
  • On-site installation & start-up support
  • Develop personal technical skills as well as those of co-workers
  • Flexibility for travel up to 50% at times for installations and startup is required

Education/Experience:

  • Degreed Engineer in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is preferred with 10-15 years of experience in the industrial controls design

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Computer-aided design (CAD) is desirable
  • Working knowledge of national electrical standards and the application of manufacturing controls design is preferred
  • Knowledge of Rockwell PLC, HMI, and drives desired
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to adjust to changing timelines and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 40%

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

Salary Range:

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $115,000.00. This range is specific to Livermore, CA and the actual salary will be determined based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
