The Highlands at Harbor Springs is Hiring a Prep Cook Near Springs, MI

Overview

The Highlands is currently looking for a new Prep Cook to join our Food & Beverage team! You will be responsible for preparing all food items needed for service. In addition, you will maintain a clean kitchen. This is a full-time or part-time year-round position with flexible scheduling, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the various perks that come with working at an amazing resort.

We're looking for pepople in the following outlets:

Main Lodge- You'll be prepping a variety of items for all 3 meals served here

Food Court- Here you'll be prepping for lunches and dinners served in 2 different restaurants

Responsibilities

The following statements are general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position. 

  • Maintains an adequate amount of prepared food by following menu requirements for foods needed in advance of service.
  • Prepare food as instructed by the Chef and comply with food handling guidelines and cooking procedures.
  • Follow recipes as designed by the Chef.
  • Washing, preparing, and chopping vegetables breaking down, cutting or grinding meat, preparing sauces and soups, etc.
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to the recipe or use the record to prepare and prep food items.
  • Label, date and rotate all stored food.
  • Adjust thermostat controls to regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, kettles, etc.
  • Maintain restaurant equipment and keep all food service items clean and in orderly condition.
  • Follow all health regulations and assist in maintaining a sanitary environment.
  • Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, and other kitchen surfaces.
  • Perform closing procedures including equipment maintenance and shut off, cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Communicates absences and schedule changes promptly
  • Additional duties or responsibilities may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must possess ServSafe certification or be willing to obtain it upon employment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while standing for long hours on your feet.
