The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

HJF is seeking a Project Coordinator works as a liaison and coordinator of information, opportunities, and temporary activities which support the advancement of the Biomarkers Core. Responsible for driving the successful delivery of various enterprise projects in support of overarching strategies. Leads and contributes to fixed duration projects, as well as maintain status updates for individual line of business projects and processes, presenting to senior leadership as necessary.

This position will be in support of Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (CNRM), specifically the Biomarkers Core. CNRM was established as a collaborative intramural federal program developed to bring together the expertise of clinicians and scientists across disciplines to catalyze innovative approaches to traumatic brain injury (TBI) research.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor project schedules, progress, and deadlines.
  • Under the direction of Core Leadership, maintains project plans as well as develops and executes communication plans.
  • Communicates with stakeholders to define the specifications for services, answer questions, work status updates, scheduling information, and provide other necessary information.
  • Coordinate requests for projects with assigned staff to ensure the project requirements are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Recommends and documents final changes for implementation to project teams and senior leadership, including risks and mitigation.
  • Prepare, track or review outgoing work and associated regulatory forms/agreements.
  • Collaborates across functions, departments, and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive problem-solving approach. Makes recommendations for process improvements based on obtained knowledge gathering.
  • Communicates scheduling issues and route technical questions to staff.
  • Assist in laboratory services procurement and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Develops user procedures, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Performs complex analysis inclusive of SWOT, benchmarking, and trends.
  • Ability to assist writing progress reports in a clear and concise manner.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Provides support to assigned leads & maintains plans and objectives, including metrics to assess progress, using established project management standards and processes.
  • Monitors milestones and deliverables to identify issues early, develops workarounds and communicates/ escalates to leadership as applicable.
  • Ability to proactively manage projects and quality deliverables. Excellent project management, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use sound judgment in solving problems; ability to multitask; coordinate many complex systems and projects simultaneously. Excellent analytical skills in the preparation of reports, tracking metrics and creating project timelines.

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
  • 1 day remote.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 0-2 years’ experience required
